Socialism Series Episode 6: John Francis Bray

In this episode, Matt covers the American-born John Francis Bray whose 1839 magnum opus Labour’s Wrongs and Labour’s Remedy lucidly outlined basic socialist concepts later drawn upon by the heavy hitters like Marx and offered a unique alternative involving tens of thousands of collectively-owned joint-stock corporations that paid all workers the same hourly wage and sold all products at cost.

Socialism Series Episode 6: John Francis Bray

Comments

Hi guys, long time first time. Love the series. I just noticed that Piketty has a new book of essays on socialism. Matt, could you do an episode on this, given you have a blurb on Capital in the 21st century?

This series is really good. Because I'd love to know more about the history of left thought but it is very difficult to know where to start. So having Matt act as a guide is very good and I think it will serve as a launching pad for me to learn more about what I'm specifically interested in. I hope you eventually do Meidner?
