The Job Guarantee ft. Aussies David Sligar, Hugh Sturgess, and Michael Hiscox (fixed)

Matt brings on three smart guests to talk about the Job Guarantee proposal and political developments, both in Australia and more generally. The conversation covers things like Bill Mitchell (top JG advocate in Australia), Noel Pearson (Mitchell's newest ally, one of the most prominent anti-welfare advocates in the country), Work for the Dole, Jobseeker Payment, the Phillips Curve/NAIRU/Wage-Price Inflation, what jobs JG can actually do, Guiliani's TANF workfare program and its impact on unions, among other things.

A must listen!

Two thumbs up.

Thanks a lot for that perspective. And glad to hear some of the criticisms we made resonate with you.

Haley's Husband: Having 11.5 (and counting) years in the US Army, the discussion right at the hour-mark hits home for me. Young men falling off trailers and dying, meaningless busy work sweeping and resweeping, redoing Monday's work on Wednesday (that you undid on Tuesday), bullying and systemic abuse, no safety standards, not using people in their skills/talents, not building experience in anything anyone cares about, red meat for the base, spending billions (hundreds of billions in our case) on nothing, etc. At best, our Army is a horribly dysfunctional, abusive, and wasteful make-work program for "excess" young men.
