Really enjoyed the labor bits. Loved the McDonald's Denmark story. I get angry every day when I think how both major parties have screwed workers for decades. I hope for a worker comeback.

Billions of dollars are at stake through ads, licensing, etc. ESPN/Disney in particular would have been in a squeeze. Factor in all the other sports that joined in. 2. I didn't appreciate this pre-Covid, but sports, movies, and other forms of public entertainment function as a major pressure release valve. There's a story about Tivoli Gardens in Denmark that it was sold to King Christen VIII to the effect that "when people are amusing themselves, they don't think about politics." The last few months have borne this out with respect to the importance of movies and sports as kind of soft form of social control.
