To take a page out of cogs book I actually think we might be going about this the wrong way by thinking about it through the traditional sales based business model. I wonder if Xbox is all but abandoning the idea of selling games a la carte on their platform. Maybe they are counting on users buying games on steam and taking a percentage cut. More importantly, this will funnel people into Xbox, where they will subscribe to gamepass. So essentially you have a situation where you are ceding a la carte sales to Valve but potentially growing the gamepass userbase exponentially.
