Eight years ago to the day -- on March 20, 2017 -- I launched Last Stand Media (known then as Colin’s Last Stand). Eight years. Eight years! I have no idea how so much time has elapsed. But it has, and here we are.
Now, I fully recognize that eight years isn’t much of an interesting anniversary number, so I won’t belabor the point too much, other than to say that I deeply appreciate everyone’s support over all of these years. Somehow, I’ve been doing this longer than anything else I’ve ever done in my life. That wasn’t always my intention. In fact, it’s hard to even remember what my intention was when I created this ragtag outfit. But needless to say, it’s been a wild ride, and I’m deeply grateful for it.
I want to extend an especially heartfelt ‘thank you’ to my team, who does much of the heavy lifting and makes sure that Last Stand operates like an unjammed machinegun. I’ve often said that hiring Dustin in particular is probably the reason we’re all still here doing this, because I desperately needed someone to take production duties from me as the company began to expand. So obviously, a richly-deserved hat-tip to him. But to everyone else, too! To Chris, who was eager to work with me when few other people were, who built Sacred Symbols into the behemoth it is alongside me, and to whom I am infinitely loyal. To my lovely wife Micah, for her toil on our merch store, for keeping my schedule, and for dealing with the Nintendo zealots on Punching Up. To Matty and Cog, who have done me so very proud with their consistent high-quality work on Defining Duke over these years. To Brad, who I still can’t believe Easy Allies let walk away (in the sports world, we’d call such a signing ‘a fleecing’), and who runs two of our podcasts with the deft skill of a person doing it for many years. To Gene, who took a social beating for associating with us, and yet stood by us loudly and staunchly, and who became one of my very favorite people. To my brother Dagan, not only for his art that adorns every facet of our company, but for KnockBack, and for his work on Constellation, too, which he was potentially born to host. And to our many other collaborators, too -- Hoeg, Jaffe, Lock, and others -- I love you guys. Thank you for your availability, your expertise, and your enthusiasm. (I'm sorry to anyone I may have accidentally forgotten!)
When I started this thing up in March of 2017, I had no idea what I was doing, and I honestly still don’t. But we’re somehow still here. From the very bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting me and us, and for giving me a level of deep security and a blessed lifestyle that I could have only dreamed of before I started this endeavor. I fully understand that Last Stand will never, ever get the credit it deserves, but it’s a pioneering company in the gaming space and in the world of crowdfunding. Everyone that works here knows it, and everyone who supports us does, too. Honestly, that’s good enough for me.
I’m off to record Sacred Symbols. Thanks again for your generosity and kindness over these last eight years. We’ll be here for as long as you support us, hopefully for many more years to come. That'll be entirely up to you.

Not cleaning that office building any longer, but still following and listening to you. It's not by chance or luck that so many people follow and support you with this much loyalty. Well deserved. I still remember sitting in my car, after finishing a grueling shift at a fast-food joint when Colin first announced his return to any sort of public-facing work with Colin's Last Stand's history videos. Then later came Side-Quest, and finally, a full return to games podcasting with Sacred Symbols. Now I've come to know and love the rest of the crew, Micah and Dagan especially, just as much as the main man himself. Congratulations on a hugely successful 8 years. As long as there is a way to see, hear, or support you, I'll be there watching, listening, and donating. Thanks for helping keep me engaged, challenged, and entertained through three job changes, two trips overseas, a new marriage, and now, long days spent working on a fixer-upper for my wife and I. I don’t think the product suffers too much for it. Colin has really excelled at the concept of core competencies. The business is basically a bare bones podcast/talk show. We’re here for the discussions. No extra bells and whistles needed. Contrast that with Kinda Funny who has grown way too big with a massive expensive studio that forces them to constantly beg their fans for money. It has hurt their product while Colin’s product remains strong because it focuses on what the fans actually want. Although I don’t listen to every episode anymore, I’ll always tune in for topics I care about. And usually Colin and co bring the goods. Congrats on 8 years and the gravy train doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
