In 2025, Xbox will deliver their first ever "partner device" in another team up with ASUS. It will be a handheld and likely symbolize the next step into what Xbox evisions as the future of their platform. That's no mere guesswork as we also have word that come 2027, a new generation of device will be in our hands. One, a powerful console built more like a PC, and another that serves as the "official Xbox handheld." The Dukes dissect Xbox's hardware plans and what they aim to accomplish in a space where they've lost a ground. Undoubtedly, AI will be a big part of Xbox's push into next gen and the Dukes got a peak at that. This week, we learned about "Copilot For Gaming." Not much to be said here. Also, they lauded Tekken 8s AI feature allowing you to overcome challenges from players in an artificial (non player) way. You know a real challenge to overcome I know it's not a 1 to 1 comparison, but it's close enough. The argument seemed like one rooted in emotion not logic. I also don't truly understand the knob slobbing over developers. Is yellow paint or a character telling you what to do any different? Is this excellent game design ? No. Not in my opinion. Also, the human brain has never been wired to critical thinking (i.e. most people aren't critical thinkers and never have been). Also, beating a video game challenge (I'm a solo souls guy so I get it) is not the same as a physical challenge in the real world (ice bath, beating an opponent in a physically demanding competitive sport). Not even close. Dukes were out of pocket in this episode but I loved it!! LoL #CopilotDD

2025-03-17 09:47:07 +0000 UTCSpeaking of "overcoming challenges" - Lies of P - i'm only up to Area 6. but these first 5 bosses, a few of them were hard. Was banging my head against the wall. Then, I tried "summoning a spectre". OMG this made these bosses so easy it was hard to believe, how little effort or skill I had to use. I would just run up on the boss and bash away at them while they were totally occupied with the spectre. also, I htink my spectre only died during one of the fights. SO silly.

You estimated that this 2025 handheld would be ~$500 but the 2027 hardware will probably be pretty expensive. That all sounded reasonable to me until I thought about the consumer response when the next handheld comes out 2 years later and much more expensive. Can Xbox afford to have that sort of look when they release their mainline next gen hardware to be like 50% more expensive than the handheld they just released 2 years prior? Just a thought. Keep being awesome guys!
