Jez is the co-host of the popular Xbox Two podcast and the executive editor of Windows Central. He's also a well-known Xbox brand insider, and it's always fun for me (Colin) to talk shop with him. Through Bethesda, Activision Blizzard, Mojang, and even its own one-time exclusive first party studios, Microsoft has rapidly become the biggest third party publisher on PlayStation platforms. Obviously, there's a great deal of meaning behind this, as one-time economic arch-enemies become intertwined in ways not to unlike Nintendo and SEGA's dance back-in-the-day. Suddenly, PlayStation's library will be buttressed by titles it would have never seen in years past, while Microsoft can rely on customers outside of its ecosystem to pour cash into its coffers. In other words, things are kinda upside down, and they're primed to remain that way. So let's chat about it!

2025-02-10 18:47:52 +0000 UTCThe integration with the xbox ecosystem is there too for those who care about achievement history so it seems like the logical move for xbox's hardcore base to move to PC while the more casual players go with the flow of console gaming towards playstation

2025-02-10 06:22:05 +0000 UTCI don't think PC matters in the grand scheme of things. Wukong sold because China has far more access to PCs than PlayStations with all the restrictions there. Making a live service game successful on console only can work if executed and marketed correctly.

But that he can't see why Microsoft would mislead people about the profitability of game pass and that the game pass only cohort can't possibly be that big.

2025-02-08 17:36:34 +0000 UTCIf Microsoft does a staggered release of their games on PlayStation there will still be a benefit to purchasing their console. As in- their games stay Xbox exclusive for 6 months. That would give users some benefit in staying with their machine and it will give Microsoft the much needed sales of their games on PlayStation. Too me- that's a perfect scenario. Especially if they have consistently good to great games releasing ever few months. I'm chose PlayStation 5 based on all of their incredible exclusives last gen, but what they are offering now and in the next 3 or 4 years is of little value to me so I'm side eyeing Xbox a little.

So many of these video game insiders just seem to guess and I’ve lost count of how many things Jez has assured people were, or weren’t happening with Xbox and just flopping them entirely.
