Constellation, Episode 109 | Lyrics That Define Us, Underwhelming Experiences, Calling Someone Out

Welcome back to Constellation! Would you kindly feast your optic orbs on this group of podcasting superstars? And of course, Dagan. Kicking off Side A, Jaffe punches the boys right in the feels with his topic about song lyrics. The gang waxes poetic as they break down the words in the tracks that speak to them most. Next, Chris wants to commiserate about underwhelming experiences. After all the lofty expectations, which places, people and events just didn't live up to the hype? Finally, Dagan tries to entice his pals to talk some shit. Axes will be grinded, but will the dudes actually name names? As always, Colin just freeloads on everybody else's topic, because "he's the boss." Total bullshit.

What's really crazy & brazen about the Milli Vanilli story is that it wasn't the FIRST time or the LAST time that the producer pulled that same scheme.

Yes Dagan why do they get fingered 😂😂😂

I cannot believe Colin is actually wanting to get Mercante on here. For all of his talking about some people he doesn’t want to platform, she should be in that same group. Colin saying he feels bad for her is ridiculous given a lot of the crap she has started and said herself and some of the things she’s done. Utterly ridiculous take

Colin: my favorite cover of “Time” (which is one of the greatest and most devastating songs ever written): https://youtu.be/2xJl7IGqh-A?si=WIxsthdNHx3_MIP4

Saint947

His voices were so funny this episode lmao. The Seinfeld parts killed me

MeatSpin11

This is one of the best episodes of Stelly easily. I legit was in tears during the bikini coffee shop talk, but it also had its shares of thought provoking topics about the lyrics and spicyness of the “calling out” third topic. This one is getting saved for sure.

Just to be THAT guy. Frank Sinatra didn't write My Way. "My Way" is Paul Anka's English-language version of the French song "Comme d'habitude," released by Frank Sinatra in 1969. The original song was written by Jacques Revaux, Gilles Thibaut, and Claude François, and was first recorded by the latter in 1967.

I think the ending of Time is about accepting and appreciating the life you’ve lived when you’re at the end with the “iron bells” being an allusion to church bells that are rung during a funeral and the “softly spoken magic spells” being your final rites being read. That section of the song serves as a coda (the ending section of a music piece, i.e. the end of your life) to the rest of the song being a warning to embrace what life has to offer while you still have the chance. Musically, that section is a rehash of the opening track Breathe which is all about living in and appreciating the moment, so I think that the lyrics are about someone basically on their death bed reflecting on the life they’ve lived with the follow up track on the album being Great Gig in the Sky. Dark Side is such a killer record.

It was great to hear Colin highlight his experience with "Time". I'm two months older and this is yet another similarity (in addition to drumming, GameFAQs, etc) I share with him. While I've been a fan of Pink Floyd since my teenage years, it wasn't until my mid 30s that I started to appreciate them in a more complete sense. When I was 38, "Time" hit me in a similarly existential way. Anyway, great episode, gents! PS I know my use of two spaces after periods (and colons) will undoubtedly enrage Colin, but my junior high Journalism teacher drilled it into our brains.

Best episode in a while!!!

Diddy’s Dong Quest

Gotcha, okay, I see what you mean. Yea the play by play commentary isn’t there for the live events. I’ve always thought it would be kinda cool to be able to have that piled in through your air pods or something, hahaha. I’m bummed you didn’t enjoy it. Dammit!

Unlike sports, I'd say a wrestling event is better in person than watching tv. I've been to so many AEW shows and the crowd integration is awesome and I've never felt like I was missing out on the story because there's in ring promos and they still show the backstage vignettes.

Joseph Gedgaudas

Damn, sad to hear Colin mention that NFL is often disappointing live. I’m a massive fan of NFL from South Africa and have been saving up to go to a game for a while now.

Christopher Ujma

I’ve missed Jaffe

Cami Black

Caca flakes is craaaazy 🤣

Adam Martinez

I promise- we went and saw one of the 2 shows in San Diego and there was entrance music but there were no commentors. Maybe announcer was the wrong term. I'm sure there was the ring girl and the announcer as a wrestler walked out. Talking about the people who comment on the match as it's happening. That was 100% not present and- to me- it really killed a lot of the drama (along with the lack of changing close camera angles).

David Jaffe

The line up was picked just for me🤤

Caca flakes

I was a bit puzzled by that as well. When he said there's no music or entrance announcing I got confused. It's not even like something you can miss or misinterpret, it booms through the entire arena. It must've just been a.... really poor choice of words? Either way, loved this episode.

Ian (616Entertainment)

I wasn’t talking to you, Benji 😘❤️

Adam Barnes

Haha. I’m English you twat xx

Benji_B2sick

Sorry that I offended you, micro

Adam Barnes

Jaffe’s take on live wrestling is dead wrong. I was literally just at Smackdown and the Royal Rumble last week. Is it different live vs on TV? Absolutely. But there are ring announcers, there is definitely music for every person coming out, he is completely wrong on this one. I have never sat anywhere near the front row and it’s always a great time. Being there and getting to chant/cheer/boo is a really fun part of wrestling you only get to experience live.

“Intellectually, I love Burger King” -Only Colin Moriarty

Aussies trying to flaunt that stolen Scottish/Irish valour

Chris’ Goodfellas voice is now a thing lol

NeO JD

I read it more as Dagan’s writing

NeO JD

Alright cunt. They can’t do twat properly either.

Benji_B2sick

Americans, please stop using the word ‘cunt’. You’re doing it wrong. Leave it for us Aussies, it’ll be less embarrassing that way

In 2025, LinkedIn is basically just Facebook. I absolutely hate, loathe, despise (every verb you can think of) LinkedIn and how essential it’s become to the job hunt. If you delete it, people will think it’s a red flag and that you’re trying to hide something. But no, maybe some of us just want to prioritize our mental health and not have our entire fucking lives online. I got rid of all my social media two years ago for that very reason.

Nick Shillingford

Jaffe! Great episode guys!

Carter Ellis

Dagster is 100% on the money when it comes to LinkedIn, that site is home of the most egotistical asshats EVER

Michael McCoy

S tier line up, great episode!

Ben Haner

Absolute chaos. Love it.

Mykal

Chris just shines in the constellation—pure podcast talent.

Daniel Pereira

The funniest thing about that Mad Men elevator thing Colin always brings up, the point was that Don very much thought of the dude he said it too. He was consumed by it.

Bogey

Songs that sound happy but have sad or dark lyrics are the hardest hitting for me.

Tanner Denso

Jaffe you're very welcome here. Be yourself man.

Russell Robinson

Jaffe rules

Robbie Agnew

I love this era of “Colin doesn’t show up with a topic but delivers an hour of straight random anyways” so much.

Kenneth Koepnick

Absolutely stacked lineup

Fella

“Biloxi, This is the real muthafuckin deal y’all. I’m really feelin them lighters.” -Fred Durst. It really spoke to me when he said that. But really it prolly be, “Welcome my son Welcome to the machine What did you dream? It's alright we told you what to dream” Pink Floyd or “What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me? Lend me your ears, then I'll sing you a song I will try not to sing out of key” Beatles, even though the Joe Cocker song is far better

Michael Thew

50 minutes before even starting the first topic is amazing lol

Muskrat Mike

Love when Jaffe is on!

CastingCouch

The three hosts in one episode! Look at what they need to mimic even a fraction of Brad’s power!
