2025-01-08 17:21:43 +0000 UTCEternal is definitely the better playing game of the 2 DOOM’s. I couldn’t imagine not having the dash available and all the extra tools eventually became second nature. DOOM sort of ran out of things to say in its gameplay after getting the Gauss and Super Shottie powered up. That said, 2016 is just the better game and world. Eternal arcadifying the entire experience with neon pickups, taking away the organic nature of finding weapons and specifically, the story. Eternals story was well done but the time skip after 2016 is inexplicable and left players wanting on what actually happened with Samuel Hayden. Both elite, 2016 is just the better game overall and has the better OST of the 2. BFG Division is just all time rad

Yeah, my overall gist is that if saying sports are like strategy games and that there should be more crossover with gamers, they are purely a game with almost none of the trappings that add flavor to a game. To me, it’s like saying an FPS where every object is a gray box is the best shooter mechanically.

2025-01-08 00:46:44 +0000 UTCI absolutely agree with Colin on 2016 being better than Eternal. I had a blast with 2016 but fell off Eternal about 2/3 of the way. It also forced you to use certain weapons too often even if you didn’t want to which was pretty meh

I have the equivalent of a medical PhD, and to really get the most out of the alchemy system to get the best armor and weapons felt like I was in college again lol. But the characters are delightful and the story was pretty good too. I like how the characters talk to each other like people would. There joke around, are serious, flirt, get mad at each other etc. the character writing has always been good

The cast of characters are all lovable and have their own unique quirks. I play them on easy because they some great cozy games to just sit back and go around gathering and crafting in them. Highly recommend the series and I started with Sophie 1

2025-01-08 00:36:17 +0000 UTCOh yeah, you get alot of people talking about attractive characters, which I’m definitely more than ok with, but some of the games are really great. The good thing about the Ryza series is they don’t have the time limits. The Sophie series as well got rid of them. If you like clothing design, you will love that. The art is an interesting mash up of European and Eastern fashion and it’s one of the draws. But if you go in thinking it’s all about sexy stuff, it’s really not. There are a lot of themes they touch upon that tend to be more personal. If I remember correctly, Ryza in the first game is mainly about their last summer together as a group of friends. Other things happen too but they tend to be more personal (though some get to be more grand and sweeping). Atelier Totori on the ps3 was about a girl who wanted to be an adventurer like her mother (but who she didn’t grow up with her since she was gone, making for a fairly nuanced story). Another cool aspect is the games that have a trilogy tend to have reoccurring characters but years later so you get to see characters grow up. Yeah there are anime tropes, some fanservice ( though not as much as you would think). And just so you know, they do have old men characters :P Some of the battle systems though have gotten really good in the later entries. I really do think while some games in the series are lackluster, and the alchemy systems can be a little complicated, especially in the ps3 era and before, the newer games starting with Sophie and Ryza have done alot to make it more streamlined.
