As usual, each of us has chosen five 'moments' -- that's 15 total -- and they all involve the PlayStation ecosystem in some way, some literally and obviously, while others more loosely and casually. So let's chat about Helldivers 2's meteoric success, the collapse of Concord and Firewalk, Xbox's wide-ranging publishing capitulation to Sony, the lead-up to (and launch of) PS5 Pro, the PlayStation brand's uneven 30th anniversary celebration, Sony's decision to publish Horizon on Switch, the furor around Stellar Blade, confirmation of a new PlayStation handheld in the years to come, and much, much more. @Faan Gonna piggyback on your comments about Factions. I am super into Factions as well. I'm still bummed about TLOU Online being canceled on the daily. Our best hope at this point is either that the MP team at Naughty Dog spins off a new studio or TLOU Part III brings it back. It's a shame, I honestly believe ND makes some of the greatest MP games ever. At this point its been since 2016 (Uncharted 4) that they even released a MP mode. I really hope they do something. Playing Factions and U4 these days is rough, lots of cheaters and toxic players.

I tend be neutral, and accept that others don’t share my opinions, but when someone says extremely hurtful personal things about another individual’s children it comes across incredibly scummy. Pretty sure that’s why people around here aren’t too fond of him. I personally find what Craig said about Jaffe way more offensive than what EZ Allies did to Dustin. That aside, Colin calling out that Twitter post commenting on Intergalactic was hilarious and necessary.

It does seem Colin needs to actually watch the content of these people more. Same happened a few years ago with Melonie Mac. He seemed to agree with her a lot, but if he actually watched her channel he would probably dismiss it as culture war brain rot (even back then)

He is a friendly acquaintance. Colin wrote a lengthy investigative piece about the history of Naughty Dog around 2013, where he was given access by Naughty Dog themselves. So, of course, Colin is defending Naughty Dog and Mr. Druckmann. If Colin had a personal attachment to a higher-up developer at another studio, I'm sure he'd be favorably defending them on reasonable terms. Just look at Colin's defense for Stuttering Craig and Dave Rubin. Both are controversial figures in the right-wing space. Then, see how Colin comments on right-wing pundits in the gaming space, such as Grummz, who he is very critical of. The difference is he doesn't have a personal attachment to Grummz. Obviously, there's a lot of nuance here, but Colin is typically defensive and gives the benefit of the doubt to those he personally is friendly with. I like Naughty Dog a lot, especially their PS3 catalogue, which is very impressive. I liked Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us: Part II. But it's very apparent to me that the studio is shifting onto a more serious, cinematic tone for their games. That has happened since Uncharted 4 when Neil Druckmann came along as co-director. Personally, the cancellation of The Last of Us: Online really bummed me out because I was so hyped for that game... I loved the Factions multiplayer mode from the original and spent dozens of hours on it in my quest for The Last of Us: Remastered platinum trophy. I see where you're coming from. The only "Soulsborne" game I like is the Star Wars: Jedi duology, if you can even call that "soulsborne-like," lol.

Colin saying "do you even play games?" because people don't start glazing naughty dog immediately is insane. One of the most popular genres is soulslike at the moment, yet he refuses to even play anything if it is mentioned anywhere that it could be soulslike, do you like games Colin? How can you not really play any souls? I don't care about naughty dog, I played uncharted, I didnt like it and the last of us was just good, nothing more, and the intergalactic protagonist looks like the typical butch lesbian with what seems like a "know-it-all" attitude. I really don't care about that game but I love gaming and I love games I am just so tired of the uglyfication and deconstractions of archetypes in the last years. And no matter how much you bitch about how naughty dog and Druckman are the best thing in gaming it won't change my opinion.

The people making a big deal of the games that I can count on one hand and aren’t working correctly either are brokies, or never intended on buying one in the first place. For the price, Pro is objectively worth it and you won’t get equivalent performance out of a PC unless you’re spending roughly double. Even games that haven’t had a patch are seeing improvements. There is definitely a level of corporate pandering that can be a bit much. The issue is that it feels like the content of sidescrollers and others like them such as Grummz is just constantly complaining about how everything is woke and dei and trans people are ruining everything and it's just feeding this right wing hateful echo chamber that sort of encapsulates everything wrong with gaming discourse right now. Colin has talked multiple times about how there is definitely something to say about these corporate narratives being pushed a bit much sometimes but the people talking about it are the least qualified to do it. When he had Craig on ss+ a few weeks ago to promote "the real game awards" I was surprised to hear zero pushback on the actual substance of what it is which is basically just the anti woke awards. I really do appreciate Colin's ability and willingness to talk to all types of people with all kinds of different opinions but to have him on and ignore the obvious elephant in the room just felt like an advertisement. I also would say I strongly disagree with the notion of "hate your fellow man but love our corporate narrative" but I understand how it can feel that way sometimes. I don't fully agree with him but most of the time know what he is talking about and where he is coming from but your disregard for everything he says and the Cultural Brainrot of society has me worried you may be missing some of the puzzle. He actively chooses to cover microscopic twitter rage bait on the biggest PlayStation podcast then complain of its existence. It has puzzled me for a long time why he pursues this at all, Chris & Dustin often just nod a long until he’s finished. Please go watch the Ghost Of Yotei reveal reaction or the Indy impressions a few weeks ago - some of the most bemusing content this Patreon has ever produced. Large segments given to tweets from random accounts whilst covering major industry moments of the year, bizarre. The only situation worth covering on the ‘culture war’ was how stupid the Sweet Baby stuff was everything else was just rage bait, dumb. This ‘culture war’ only exists in twitter accounts with 700 followers and a paid blue tick, Colin and select others breathe life into them with coverage - for what reason? I’m sure I’ll never know.

People are gonna do whatever they please when they’re on an episode, that’s beyond Colin’s control. In this case Craig used his spot on the podcast to “sell tickets” all the while Colin is pushing back on the very idea of said show. So how is that Colin promoting it? If anything, I see that as actively hurting Craig’s product! How many people here do you think even “bought tickets”? Lol. I just think it’s silly to think that just because Colin has someone on, that automatically means he’s promoting or supporting them. I welcome those kinds of episodes. I love hearing Colin disagree with someone on a podcast & hope he does more.

That may be why Colin wants to speak with him, which is fair, and Colin likes to speak to anyone, which I appreciate. The interview with Craig was fine. I kinda wish Colin pushed a bit more with Craig like he did with Hasan Kharaman and Filip Miucin but it is what it is lol. He didn't even have to push back harshly, but could've asked more follow-up questions. It was definitely more of a discussion than an interview. But yeah, I agree with you Ryan on Craig's recent content. I especially found it distasteful when he and his guests praised the new Indiana Jones game but still made a backhanded complement to the Machine Games developer who was in the Indiana Jones reveal trailer in January. I just wish we could stop with this divisiveness in gaming. Is political correctness a big part of the games industry? Yes. But the vitriol on both political spectrums has pervaded video game discourse. Man, I wish we returned to the somewhat normalcy and peace that the video games industry had back in the 7th generation of consoles.

Ai is realistically the only way to cross the 4k 60 gap without detrimental expense to the consumer. Especially with bigger and more texturally dense games than ever before.
