Howdy dukes First time writing in on the show and I wondered if you had seen the report about Lego Horizons potentially coming to Xbox that Insider Gaming wrote an article about? Why do we think PlayStation are potentially releasing lego horizons on xbox, is there some contractual reasons with Lego that are forcing playstation to release on Xbox? It begs the question why it wasn’t released day and date on xbox in the first place. If it was a PlayStation change in strategy then you’d have to wonder why they allowed Concord to die but are pushing Lego Horizons elsewhere. Have a playstation is now going third party kinda day

2024-12-16 23:41:32 +0000 UTCDuke Boys, By the time I listen to your next episode, I'll be off to the Tennessee Mountains for a Christmas vacation with the family. I just want to wish you both a very merry Christmas and please don't ever forget what you do for people. Sure, this is a gaming podcast, but that health is wealth is real stuff. When you talk about your anxieties, grief, or sick family members that is all very real. Life is hard for all of us in very unique ways, but you gentlemen make it easier. Much love to you both.

2024-12-16 23:32:43 +0000 UTCHey Dukes, I keep hearing that Microsoft’s long play with the Xbox is to develop consoles that are similar to how they sell Surface laptops in the PC space. This doesn’t make much sense to me as, with PC’s, whether you buy a Surface or not, there are other Windows options and Windows remains the dominant OS in the PC space, so you’re getting full app support. A “boutique” Xbox won’t get 3rd party support if the sales aren’t there and so this feels more like a Windows phone trajectory, where outside of the big apps, minimal support was given that mobile OS. It feels like MS is delaying the inevitable, where they eventually end up as 3rd party with GamePass as their definitive offering. Should they just cut their losses now and go full 3rd party? Or slowly bleed their fanbase out, one former exclusive at a time?

2024-12-16 23:31:23 +0000 UTCHey Dukes! Wanted to use this time to give a massive thank you to you guys for the end of the year. I joined the Patreon at the beginning of the year (Mostly for Summon Sign with Brad), but found myself being a massive fan of Defining Duke. Matty's insight on all things Bethesda and Cog's charades have been a highlight of my week. Even when I disagree with you guys, you explain your points in ways that create fun and insightful debates, even when you roasted my favorite franchise last week. Respect to Matty for hiding his disgust every time he read my username. Thank you guys for an amazing 2024 and here's hoping for an even better 2025!

2024-12-16 23:18:48 +0000 UTCHey fellas, I know you already had the Game Awards episode, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on an unsolvable problem with the voting system that I don’t think is addressed enough: the fact that the voters simply haven’t played everything. With something like the Oscars, it’s arguable that the voting committee could reasonably consume virtually every major film that released that year, but with video games, this is simply impossible. It’s pretty clear to me that Astro Bot had a massive leg up on many of the other nominees this year just due to the fact that nearly everyone played it, and the same can’t be said for something like Metaphor. I understand that judges can partially evaluate things like art direction without playing the full experience, but the lack of emotional attachment and impact resulting from that outside perspective will inevitably dock points in those cases. What do you all think about this issue? Is it something to shrug our shoulders at, or should it be addressed somehow? And are there any games that you believe have been hurt by this in years past? For me: the fact that neither Octopath Traveler 1 nor 2 were nominated for best music is a travesty and clearly a result of this phenomenon. Thanks for all that you do, wishing you both a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! -Jeremiah

2024-12-16 20:55:07 +0000 UTCWhile everyone is talking about game of the year, I want to know what were your other "best of the year" unrelated to video games? Like what was your favorite movies, favorite album, favorite meal, etc? I'll start out with Dune Part 2 being my favorite movie and Blue Lips by ScHoolboy Q being my favorite album.

2024-12-16 20:33:09 +0000 UTCDUKES OF LORE! With 2024 coming to a close, I just wanted to say thank you. While I do not podcast myself, I see that both of you work very hard. Question, what games did you not play this year that you wanted to? Have a “When Pete Alonso comes back, we must pay our penance to Steve.” Type of day

2024-12-16 20:23:38 +0000 UTCHello Dukes Do any of you have any gaming goals set for 2025? Not buying games you know you won’t play immediately, playing through a specific series you always wanted to play etc. I plan on starting my Trails pilgrimage next year. Have a “Hit him with the throat coat tea bag combo” kind of holiday

2024-12-16 18:20:26 +0000 UTCWhat’s good Duke Dudes? Just wanted to give y’all a quick opportunity to set the record straight for the conspiracy theorists in the comments of last week’s episode. They seem to think you purposely avoided talking about Helldivers 2. Enlighten them. Much love.

2024-12-16 18:06:47 +0000 UTCHello, Duke gentlemen! With Kamiya leaving to lead an Okami sequel, the rumored cancellation of multiple projects, and the reports of a mass exodus of talent, what do you think Platinum's chances of surviving are? Have a "please don't block me, Kamiya-san" kind of winter holiday.

2024-12-16 18:01:57 +0000 UTCSup Dukes, Congrats to Lord Beefy on his BACK TO BACK Fantasy Draft victories! What’s going on, Matty? You gonna let your boy go 3-0 next year? You’re the host of the show! You gotta mix up your strategy, drink a Powerade and get your head back in the game. Focus up and let’s get this W next year, otherwise I think Cog may have to take the hosting reins from you. Thanks for all the entertainment this year, and hope ya'll enjoy your holiday break! 💪

2024-12-16 18:00:44 +0000 UTCHey Dukes, with the failure of Concord and the initial success of Marvel Rivals - what are your thoughts on the future of the "hero shooter" genre as a whole? Does a new game need a roster like Marvel heroes to have a chance at competing? Could Microsoft or PlayStation release a hero shooter with their own mascots? Master Chief, Doom Slayer, B.J. Blazkowicz, and Banjo Kazooie teaming up against Dom, a Sea of Thieves pirate, a Fallout Ghoul, and a Forza ... car sounds fun, haha. Cheers and Merry Christmas!

2024-12-16 17:53:34 +0000 UTCGreetings Dukes! Jez recently said on X that Xbox exclusives are a way of the past saying "Xbox won't have exclusives going forward. Everything is timed exclusive at most." This on top of what Phil said earlier this year and seeing recent games going to other platforms, Sea of Thieves, Indiana Jones, and most recently Outerworlds 2, it had me wondering if there would be a point to owning the next Xbox if you can just wait a few months to play it on PlayStation and still get their high-quality exclusives too. Have an I love Xbox, but it doesn't love me kinda day.

2024-12-16 17:53:06 +0000 UTCHello Code Red Dukes! I hope ya’ll are doing well. The announcement of Virtual Fighter & Project Century got me thinking. Are we witnessing the beginning of a Sega Renaissance? With Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, and Jet Set Radio among others being rebooted, coupled with the high critical receptions of infinite wealth and Sonic x Shadow Generations are we seeing another Japanese behemoth rise just like Capcom has. I’m not counting Atlus in here, as they have always been good. P.S. I want another Sleeping Dogs. Have a “Stay sexy, stay active, I love you all…” kind of day AND happy holidays you bastards.
