Hello All,
I hope you're well.
Today is an exciting day for us at Lillymo Games, as we've finally released our sixth title (and our first since 2022), Tri Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Odyssey. Tri Breaker is the direct sequel to our 2020 offering Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure, and is loosely (and I mean loosely) based on Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast... or, at the very least, the cast from the show is the cast of the games! It's a tale of sci-fi, time travel, and friendship, all in the trappings of something you would have played (and hopefully loved) on NES or SNES.
I don't want to over-sell too much, but we're really proud of Tri Breaker. In many ways -- some overt and some less obvious -- it's is a major step-up for our team, not only in comparison to the original Breaker we made, but compared to the rest of our games, full-stop. It's a truly dynamic, constantly-changing 8/16-bit inspired romp that's unlike anything we've ever crafted. And as we're highly unlikely to ever revisit this nascent franchise of ours again, it's probably unlike anything we'll make in the future, too.
If you have the time, money, and inclination, we hope you'll support our new game. It's $10, and it's available virtually anywhere you get your games: PSN (PS4 + PS5), Xbox (X|SX + XBO), Nintendo (Switch), and PC (Steam).
Before I make an unusually silent exit, I wanted to answer a few commonly-asked questions relating to the project, as I'm sure some of you will be inquiring about some or all of the following...
For starters, many of you want to know about physical copies. The answer is: We'd like to do a run, but we have no concrete plans yet, and if we execute on making it a reality, it'll likely be a mid-to-late 2025 thing at the very earliest. We have actually been sitting on another physical game for a while, now, and we'll be ready to release that to the public in Q1 '25. Once that's out of the way, we can really begin to figure out how we want to approach a potential Tri Breaker physical release, as well as some other physical games we've yet to do. (Keep in mind that if we do do this, it'll be PS5-only, as indie Xbox publishing is difficult and with a small potential market, and Nintendo requires too many copies per Switch run, far exceeding what we think we could sell.)
Secondly, I'm sure many of you will ask about our mysterious J-inspired RPG. It's coming along slowly-but-surely, and I'm actually surprised by how consistently disciplined I've been about not spoiling any of it! But needless to say, the game is very real, it's far along in development, and it simply needs quite a bit more time before it's ready to show. It's a complex project for a studio our size -- perhaps as big as everything we've done so far combined, in many respects -- and it's going to be a while, still. As usual, I am dumping all of my earnings from Lillymo right back into the next game (I've not drawn any sort of money from the company since 2020, at which point I earned a small profit from Twin Breaker), and we need to release at least one more game before the RPG just to see it through to the finish line (otherwise, we're going to run out of development funds). I tell you all of this to say: Our next game (Game Seven) is coming out in 2025, and it isn't the RPG. Please set your expectations accordingly. Game Eight may be the RPG, but that remains to be seen. For a team our size, selling the amount of games we sell, and with very little room to maneuver, we really do need to take things a release at a time. If anything, I told you about the RPG way too soon, and that's totally my fault.
Finally, Barry (Lillymo's founder, majority owner, and the person who programs and designs virtually everything we release) and I will be sitting down early in '25 with the team of freelancers (artists, musicians, etc.) that helped us make Tri Breaker a reality. It'll all be recorded for an episode of Sacred+, and so while I have a lot to say about the game, its development, and my aspirations for the future of our studio, I'm going to leave my expanded thoughts for that conversation.
Okay, that's about it. Thank you for your time and attention, and for those that support our game, please know that we appreciate you.
See you in the spaces between. -Colin
