Constellation, Episode 96 | Midnight Releases, Napping/Sleep Quirks, Guilty Pleasures with a Twist

It's an all new Constellation hosted by Last Stand Media's resident goblinoid Chris Ray Gun! On this episode, the goblin will ensnare you in a winding tale for the ages along with Benjamin and MisterMatthewPlays. MisterMatthew kicks things off with the trials and tribulations of midnight releases. Our pal Benjamin commits the cardinal sins of both Wrath and Envy over those of us who choose to "take naps," a pastime he views as "for little b**es." The gremlin will then close out this meeting of minds with "Guilty Pleasures," a topic that winds and weaves into many avenues; games, movies, music, and Joaquin Phoenix's The Joker 2. Sit back, relax, pop open a "brew" or something, shut up, and enjoy. Love you long time. The Dodgers are technically a New York team, so we still won.

Chris feels too cynical to enjoy the whimsy of musicals. Like "Oh really? You're gonna sing about being in prison and all the other prisoners are gonna join in? Get real"

Jack

I don't take to the comments usually, but now I feel I must. Bring back the four person arrangement.

Caleb Heater

Sonic and pokemon are my guilty pleasures for sure. I have Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 on steam but they are hidden games. The only two I have hidden.

Tanner Denso

Chris did not in fact get that video released in time. I hope he still releases it, I miss my favorite YouTuber.

Anthony Palerino

Same here! Constellation is my favorite show! It’s awesome!

Joshua Hinderscheid

I attended the midnight release of Metal Gear Soild 4, and it was a great experience. Tons of die hard MG fans were there. It was a good time.

Will_Gear

Bro ain’t listening to tech death, BDM, death grind, blackened death core, downtempo, or slam even. SMDH 😔

Alan Wake 2 - Alan WOKE

Shorter is always better

The Rose Experience

Constellation is easily my favorite show here, before that it was Knockback and before that it was Fireside Chats. There's no shortage of other shows that are just for games, I'm glad there's something else.

Lou & Rei Loper

I definitely miss the 4 people and ESPECIALLY miss the longer episodes. As an aside, blue cheese is truly horrible. That is all.

Lou & Rei Loper

Bring back 4 people

A.B

The change to three guests works well I think. The episodes are still great, but a little shorter, which I like. Chris does a great job with his energy and cadence as a host. I love Dagan, but sometimes the vamping gets a little long in the tooth.

SweetBabyRay

no it's great, especially when there is not much in gaming going on. They need more guests though

Gooch Gobbler

To me constellation feels wrong in lsm Should be gaming only imo

Drew

Lol Chris doesn't know what metalcore is brah the core is from hardcore.

Josef Barker

Don’t be a jerk. It’s not hard to be respectful when voicing your opinions. If I was Colin and read this I’d skip Constellation even more just to spite you. Be cool dude. I want Colin on the show more too. But don’t be a jerk about it. Have patience with them. If they get enough POSITIVE feedback they’ll listen.

Joshua Hinderscheid

I definitely prefer the shorter 3 people shows. With that being said, I’ve been missing my boy Colin M. on Constellation. Feels like it’s been forever since he’s been on anything besides SS & SS+.

ExpectingRain

I definitely prefer the longer episodes and having 4 people on. I really wish Colin would be on the show more as well. Sorry for anyone being disrespectful when voicing their opinions. Please don’t think we’re all like that. I hope you’ll take our feedback into consideration. Much love!

Joshua Hinderscheid

Chris, I was the same exact way as you with sleep until I became a drug abusing pothead. Now I can go to sleep on command as long as I feed the beast 🤣 just gotta force myself to raw dog sleep sometimes too so I can get into heaven

Bartevious

I have no preference of the 3 or 4 person format. Just wanted to say I love Matty and Chris’s dynamic, every episode they are on is peak. Love the way guys like Ben, lock or Brad fit in with them too. Great episode

Bartevious

The description is fantastic 👏

lazer_josh

Put me in the 4 people, longer eps camp. But seriously, nobody pointed out that Matty confused Backstreet Boys with NSYNC*? Ya’ll slippin’

NeO JD

None of what you just said makes sense but I know it gives you a sense of moral superiority and I wouldn’t want to take that away from you. You’re a hero buddy. Don’t forget to congratulate yourself.

Jimmer

Bugaboo Creek mentioned

Collin Lewis

I prefer the three person show

Special Needs Cannon

Fun episode, don't love the three people. Def feels like it's missing something or someone..... 4 people just makes it more likely for a good conversation to spark. I don't care about the number of topics but I like 4 ppl

The GophersLoafers

The midnight release talk brings back some great memories. Four of us would all setup our 360s in one room every cod. Then we go get snacks or as we called it "snack ops" before chilling at the mall for a few hours.

Christopher Roman

Great episode. I know I’m in the minority, but I’m totally down with shorter episodes. It’s a lot a lot to keep up with and I feel myself getting ADHD brainrot having to listen to a podcast while I game. Plus I miss listening to music lol. Nobody’s getting pumped to lift to a podcast.

Alan Wake 2 - Alan WOKE

Loved the talk of midnight releases. What a time to be alive. I don’t miss physical media but some of those midnight releases were so fun. Saw Freddy v. Jason at midnight and the theater felt like a pro wrestling event. My girlfriend at the time managed our local movie theater and they did midnight showings for almost anything. I worked at Game Crazy as a 2nd job and worked the Halo 3 and Gears 2 releases. We rented TV from Rent A Center, ordered in pizzas, and let people play the games early. Great times.

Brett Altmiller

Naps are anabolic as fuck. 💪 Also, for Japanese stuff, shout out to Odd Sting & Intrigue by Kanon Wakeshima. 90s vibes and also aggressively horny album.

Alan Wake 2 - Alan WOKE

It’s like watching a favorite member of a jrpg leave your party and never come back in the story, unfulfilling

Brandon Tyler

I have to concur with Chris, the outside GameStop is in fact better than the one in the mall

Kyle Anderson

At this point, the number of topics isn't as captivating to me as the number of people. Four people with any number of topics is what I would prefer. The conversation is more involved with more people's contributions to it.

Jamin Fuller

Man people are getting unhinged around here.

Zack E

What are you talking about Colin doesn’t even host Constellation. He’ll be back for Sacred this Friday like he always is

Tristan Kimball

I can relate with your TOTK experience, I went to the midnight release at my local GameStop anticipating popping in and leaving right away, but there was a HUGE crowd out front with a ton of people in cosplay. It was a really cool experience that I thought was long dead.

Michael McCoy

Excited to listen to the episode, but we NEED four people back please! Longer episodes are heavily preferred over shorter ones, that’s a big reason why I love Sacred Symbols.

Michael McCoy

Chris is the best host for this show.

Daniel Pereira

GO BACK TO 4 PERSON SHOWS! MAKE CONSTELLATION GREAT AGAIN!

Joe B

This was a great episode

Special Needs Cannon

Matty mainly listening to video game OSTs and 50s music (because of Fallout) is still wild to me.

Noah Friscopp

Just three topics is way better!

Andrew Lewis

Constellation's always a good listen, but still not sure on the 3-person format - feel like a group of four makes the show feel a little more unique compared to other shows that are also 2-3 people. That, plus a 3-4 hour runtime I think is nice when possible just to really get into the weeds with. Though I totally understand the difficulties with scheduling, especially for a weekly show. The random switchup with hosts here and there I think is cool though, even if it's not always planned. Also, shoutout to Chris's descriptions. PS: Ever since I saw that Christmas edit Lockmort did before, if it were somehow possible - an episode around Christmas with as much of LSM on as possible would be a chaotic, but fun listen lol

JoshM

Not a fan of the new format. Show is too short.

Casey Cieslikowski

yeah, we don't do that around here. let colin step away if he needs to. let it dip down to 3 people if it calls for it. he's been open about being gassed and lives with a perpetual depression. i get it though, you seem pretty down in the dumps yourself. cheers and i hope you realize this comment wasn't worth making.

Jordan Falduto

I needed that last sentence

Jose Horrach

Colin should be on these more. The short length is good tho!

Robbie Agnew

The last midnight release I went to was for TotK, and it was a great experience. Before that, maybe Scarlet and Violet, and before that maybe Sword and Shield. Before that, probably Smash Ultimate. A lot of people say midnight launches are dead, but not in my experience. They're far less frequent, but in my area there's still a sizeable turnout for bigger releases (for the TotK release maybe between 50 and 70 people). I went to them fairly consistently throughout the 8th generation (Spiderman 1, RDR2, GoW 2018, and more).

Cameron

Bring back the fourth

Deathspank

A good friend of mine was the store manager at a local GameStop when the PS4 dropped. On launch night we smoked a fat blunt and were let in the store at 11:50. We were walking out of the mall with PS4s as he was finally letting in people that were waiting in line. I do recall having to wait until exactly midnight to make the purchase otherwise he would have lost his job for selling a minute early. But it was an amazing night and we escaped the chaos because the line was 100 people deep. Good times.

Michael Mashpotato

There’s just absolutely no way Colin skipped a FOURTH constellation in a row. How many more hundreds of thousands of dollars a year do you need to show up for work (aka bullshit into a microphone)? My god.

Jimmer

The bloody scream mask was iconic. It came with a heart that u would pump to make the blood gush through the mask

Tristan Kimball

Make it 4 people again!

Eric the human

Let’s goo Chris is hosting!! 🤓
