Defining Duke, Episode 164 | Xbox Rips Off The Bandaid - The Multi-Platform Push Is ON!

The games leaving Xbox are Hi Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea Of Theives, and Grounded, two of which were unveiled at a Nintendo Direct, and their arrivals are imminent. Separately, PlayStation has made several illuminating comments themselves such as discussing a more aggressive PC strategy and potentially digging into other platforms. While there's no doubt that Xbox will be the first to commit in a major way to multi-platform, the Dukes are left wondering how long the walled gardens will remain as these business demand more. With that in mind, we discuss how much is enough for these companies and the ominous truth being the "when everyone plays, we all win" strategy that could play out in the next 10-20 years. 2024-02-25 15:40:31 +0000 UTCYeah Xbox doesn't seem to operate that way. If Xbox establishes a fanbase for a franchise on another platform, they will fully support that fanbase by not arbitrarily delaying the game's launch on that platform. Xbox views anyone who plays their content as Xbox gamers.

You mentioned this episode and the one last week about the announcement of the 4 Xbox games that will come to PS5 and/ Switch: you keep saying first that the games are “leaving the platform [Xbox]”, when in fact they are staying in the platform and also coming to the other platforms. I am not wrong about the games staying on Xbox, right? Maybe it’s a small semantics thing, but it may give rise to the wrong impression, since for instance when a game is “leaving” Game Pass on a certain date it is actually becoming unavailable there. Though after you did specifically mention cross-play across all platforms on Grounded and Sea of Thieves. Cheers and have a “I hope I haven’t joined the grammar police without me noticing” kind of day. #unprecedentedDD

IP is almost always going to be a Copyright, Trademark, Patent, or Trade Secret. So Square owning the Octopath trademark means that they own the IP.
