G-Sync heart attack.

So I was rendering a complex scene and I have to leave my PC alone for that coz it goes unresponsive and shit... after like 1/2 an hour I come back to check on things and as usual the monitor's asleep.
Wiggle the mouse to wake it up and all I get is a brief flicker on the screen and it all goes black. The screen wasn't off or anything it's still on just glowing black. G-Sync does this sometimes when waking up and it fails to re-initialize, but you still get a "No Signal" prompt from the monitor. But this time nothing.
Power it on and off, still nothing. I'm starting to panic right about now thinking I've gone and killed my 980ti. Fine, restart the PC, I'll lose the render but what can you do? Reboot it and fucking hell, still nothing. The screen is on but just displaying black, no prompt, OSD doesn't work. And I'm thinking that's it card must be dead. There goes my 31st August deadline.
Turns out it's coz G-Sync had a brain fart and wouldn't re-initialize either with a power cycle or a reboot. Had to actually unplug the fucking monitor wait a while and plug it back in again.
Fucking hell, almost had a heart attack. Lesson learned. If you're not playing games, turn off the stupid G-Sync.

2019-08-26 02:19:06 +0000 UTCEp1 and ep2 don't count coz I had all the time in the world to make them. The other episode length will depend on how much work I can do each month. But lucky for you, ep3 is a bit bigger and has more renders than ep1 or ep2 :)
