FIrst of all, since she was confessing in russian, and there were no subtitles originally, so the viewer shouldn't know until later that she said she loves him. Second, he said (Kind of) "just be quiet and take my hand". Later, before she slapped him, she said, "If you want me to forgive you, just be quiet and take my hand", she was using the same words, she first slapped him hard, then helped him up again. I like the uno reverse here with the wording. And, in the end, she seems to say, "What I should do right now, is to live up to HIS expectations to become the school council president" , not just "live up to the expectations"
