Video tutorial content poll:

Update: I would like to thank everyone for your wonderful comments, they're more helpful than you can imagine! Upon seeing the results of the poll, I've decided to continue with my tutorial's videos.
Even though making videos does have its struggles for me, it also has its rewards and benefits. So I think a little re-wiring as to how I internalize and produce them is in order. I do plan to change things up a bit to include more shots of my work created from my photo ref. and more posts and videos focused on more beginner, nuts and bolts type information. The poll (and all of my typos) are up for another few days, for anyone who wants to join in on the discussion.
Oh and I'll put the above drawing in my store today with a very very special price for Halloween and a thank you for your help and thoughts.
________
For the past year, I've been ending each month with an instructional video. But I've often wondered if the videos are a nice addition to my current Patreon or perhaps more of an oddity. After spending some time with analytics I'm realizing that they are an oddity.
I've always struggled with being filmed or watched live while I work, I've always felt like a deer in the headlights. Using voice-over does alleviate that feeling a bit but not enough for me to ever find the "zone". And ultimately I don't look forward to having to make them, especially with all of the technical issues that seem to worm their way into the process.
I'm thinking I might scrap the video tutorials in favor of just making art from my reference material. I like the idea of video content but I think I may just change it up, perhaps something focused more on working with the models?
I thought a little poll might be interesting to see what everyone thinks about the subject. If you could take a moment and give me your thoughts and choices, I'd appreciate it. (Multiple choices allowed) Sorry about the typos, I can't edit once I've posted a poll, live and learn!
Happy Halloween!

2025-11-01 15:10:15 +0000 UTCYour references are fantastic and I enjoy drawing from them whenever I can. Your videos are informative and helpful and sometimes its not so much that I am learning brand new things, but rather that you are reinforcing when I am doing something right. Keep doing what you are doing.
