v0.13 Progress Report 4/8/25

Howdy everyone! Another weekly progress report coming at ya!

Coding

We got some coding done! Piecing together the new locations and scenes to the map have been a fun challenge but we're making good progress. We tested a new build and found some bugs and areas of improvement. But it's coming along! We're hoping to have a new build that we'll test later in the week. Fingers crossed that it's mostly perfect!

Writing

Oh yeah, I got a lot done. I moved to a new writing software to help with organization. It is very annoying and mentally taxing to remember everything and keep all these characters and choices in my head. I got Scrivener to help sort my mental mess and it was a huge help!

I wrote 4,767 words for Episode 7 which was almost all of the first draft of Maki's main stuff for that episode. With the roadmap out I am focusing on Vera and Maki in Episode 7 since they're in the first build.

But I also did a lot of writing for v0.13! Since we had a playable build I was able to get a feel for where we are missing some stuff so I added a lot. Not sure how much, but the total word count of everything I've written for Hazelnut Latte is:

150,017 words.

Which makes it longer than The Da Vinci Code and just 6k words shy of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, which is... wow.

Art

I added 2 more misc. assets to art because I noticed a moment that could do with some art. After that I might start Kokman on Ep 7 art? We shall see.

In Summary

We made progress on coding this past week! We're ironing out the bugs and hope to get another build for us to test by the end of the week. I've done a lot of writing for v0.13 and Ep 7. Unity is also going well, but we're trying to keep focus on Ren'Py, despite the fact that doing Unity stuff is way more exciting.
