Penelope definitely wasn't coming from a manipulative stance when she asked Colin for a kiss; like she said in Whistledown, it was out of desperation and resignation to a life alone and unloved. But she does have that manipulative streak in her, much like her mother, Lady Featherington. It doesn't make manipulation right, and Pen does cause lots of harm with her Whistledown persona, but the point of it all will be if she can own up to her faults and make positive change instead of excuses, no matter how justified they might seem. Love this season and love Polin, you can never make me hate these sweetiepies!

2025-03-16 13:00:39 +0000 UTCI tend to like Bridgerton (the show) more than Bridgerton (the books). I'm not knocking the books. They were enjoyable reads. But they were all just so one dimentional to me. Side characters fleshed out over many seasons will get a line sometimes or a short few sentences if they're lucky. The books are about the couple set to fall in love during that book. Marina wasn't a character, for example. BUT, I will say one thing in the books that I particularly liked (without S3+ spoilers) was how Simon got into school by just...showing up and imperiously acting like they should have been expecting him...and it worked. His dad barely noticed and it got sorted out in the end but he just, walked on in and acted like THEY were the ones who made a mistake.

Show Colin is a cinnamon roll, he has foot in mouth disease but has a good heart and always means well, whereas book Colin was physically and emotionally abusive to Penelope. I mean not outside his book, heβs great in the other three Iβve read but Julia Quinn made him so toxic in his own book.

2025-03-14 19:06:41 +0000 UTCThe only thing I didn't like about this season was that I thought the book version was better. Even Colin. He is one of my favourite Bridgertons in the books but he's one of my least favourites in the show. Not to say I don't like him, because I do, just less than the others. However, that is why they call it an ADAPTATION and not a copy of the book. As a season in itself it is amazing when you don't compare. It's one of my favourite shows even. So I stop myself from comparing too much.
