Well, this episode took a turn for the absolute worse. I'm actually shocked at what Daphne's done to the Duke, there's really no defending her actions. I will say though, I wish the Duke was truthful about not having kids. He made is seem as if he CAN'T instead of WON'T. But that doesn't allow Daphne the freedom or the pass to do what she did.
WHY DIDN'T SHE JUST HAVE THE CONVERSATION BEFORE THE SEX!??? I feel like we should have spoken about this instead of forcing the Duke. Oh, this is so bad!
Oh God, the drama was fun but now it's serious girlies!!
I NEED TO KNOW WHO LADY WHISTLEDOWN IS (don't tell me). How the HELL does she know Marina is with child? What sort of magic crystal ball/all seeing Sauron eye does she have??? I HAVE SO MANY THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS.
I enjoyed Penelope's evilness this episode and even when she's hurt, she still tried to do what's best for Marina in the end. But damn, Marina is cooked. She's done for. It's game over.
What a rollercoaster of an episode.

I'm late to this but I believe that Daphne started that scene to find out if Simon was infertile and didn't really understand the gravity of what she did? Like she was so wrapped up in the fact that he may be lying and his reaction confirmed it. But what she did was so ughhhh and yes Simon shouldn't have lied to her but ugh this really is so messy

2024-09-23 05:26:55 +0000 UTCI’m not excusing either one of their actions, but Simon is a bit of an idiot if he wants to guarantee he never has kids. Pulling out is not a good birth control method. She still could have gotten pregnant at some point.

He did at least he tell her prior to marriage that kids weren't on the cards for him - albeit not properly. He should have told her it was his own choice but I think from his point of view, he told her before she committed to him. I understand Daphne being angry 100%, it would be devastating, but there's no coming back from what she did for me personally. As much as I understood her pain, it completely ruined her character for me. Simon's face as he came to the realization of what was happening in that scene just made my heart break for him though!

Not to excuse Daphne’s actions, what she did to Simon was AWFUL and the reactions would be more severe if the roles were reversed but all of this wouldn’t have happened if girls in this show were taught, even just minutes before they left for their honeymoon.

2024-09-06 17:25:40 +0000 UTCI have to skip that scene every rewatch cuz it’s upsetting, particularly the way that the show itself seems to excuse Daphne’s behavior by portraying her as justified and Simon as a “villain”. They could’ve attempted to address the nuance there and make it clear that what she did is inexcusable, regardless of Simon’s dishonesty, but they didn’t and that will always bug me 🫠

Yes what she did was wrong. Of course her not knowing is not an excuse. But I do like that they are showing how harmful it is to not have any sex education

Can’t and won’t are two different things. We knew what his thoughts were since he told his father on his death bed that the title would die with him but yeah, it’s crazy!
