Something that really stood out to me this episode was when Marcus said he feels a hundred years old... damn, that hit so deep. The pressure of not only being a black man in the 50's / 60's , but to be gay too?? I just felt the weight on his shoulders. Also, Hawk's kid saying something is wrong with him brings me back to feeling that exact emotion when I was figuring myself out. I know that him saying this may not be in terms of his sexuality, but the fear of feeling out of place and not understanding why hits all the same!

2024-02-12 17:30:15 +0000 UTCI completely get you. Ive seen a lot of reactors and responses to this show where people say Hawks so awful I would never do that, how can he do that. I get his decisions and his motives can be selfish and hurtful, but without living in his shoes no one can say for certain how they would deal with that environment. I always love how genuine your reactions are, and the little look to camera you do when things start to get emotional like 'oh no it's going to get me isn't it' so adorable!

When Lucy burned the letter it was the type of thing that women in the 50s did to get through the relationship. One was expected to maintain a certain demeanor. I know Hawk goes about things in a different way but he’s doing what he has to do to safely get through these horrible times. Hawk has always Loved Tim even though he doesn’t verbalize it.
