John Cho, Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda, and Alex Hassell have been cast in Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop series - https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/cowboy-bebop-netflix-live-action-series-cast-1203180399/
- (Smiles) So y’all know why I’m smiling, right?
- I’m smiling, because this cast list is probably the closest thing I’m ever going to get to seeing the true face of God. AND LIVE
- You got Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, who was one of the main things I really enjoyed about Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and looks like she’s been channeling Faye’s essence since the day she was FUCKING BORN, BITCH; I SEE IT
- You got Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, which I’m indeed impressed with. Watching the anime, I always saw Jet Black as...black, but I wasn’t sure if everyone else felt the same way. Glad to know I’m not alone here
- You got Alex Hassell as the villain Vicious, and I mean...he don’t really look THAT Vicious, but we’ll see
- And then we got John Cho as Spike, and bitch, I’m READY. Out of all of the actors that can channel Spike’s charm, personality and Watanabe’s inspiration for the character overall, it’s Cho
Francis Ford Coppola is ready to make one of his dream projects, Megalopolis - https://deadline.com/2019/04/francis-ford-coppola-megalopolis-directing-this-year-1202588167/
- The movie’s gonna be about a New York architect that’s trying to make a utopia in the city, but is being combated by the mayor, and according to Deadline, its gonna be just as ambitious as Apocalypse Now
- Coppola’s been trying to make this movie since the turn of the century, and according to him, the script is ready and he’s already speaking to actors he has in mind for it.
- He’s also 80 years old. So godspeed, sir
- I hope you get a chance to film and release this, before anything drastic happens to you, so that you don’t have to endure the Kubrick Curse and have another director make it in your homage due to your timely demise
- But hey, Kubrick bit the bullet at 70, and you already have him beat by 10 years. And considering you gave us Godfather and Dracula, I’m absolutely sure you’re gonna give us the best you got.
- Unless I just accidentally jynxed you... Fuck.
Supernatural to end after Season 15 - https://www.tvguide.com/news/supernatural-ending-after-season-15/
- That’s correct; the show that never ends is finally coming to an end
- Jared, Jensen and Misha released a video announcing the show ending with the next season that I thought was very sweet and charming
- And while I thought the initial story the show was trying to tell ended after Season 5, the fact that both the fans and the cast and crew continued to constantly enjoy watching and making the show respectively made me appreciate the seasons that came after it
- So yeah, I’m sad to see it go. But at the same time I’m interested in what The CW is gonna try and replace it with.
- Hopefully it’s not a spinoff, because we all know how THAT turned out...
Batman fans are already comparing Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker to Heath Ledgers - https://comicbook.com/dc/hottopics/2019/04/03/joker-movie-trailer-joaquin-phoenix-heath-ledger/
- Why?
- Like, I understand writing full-ass essays regarding the teaser trailer to Jordan Peele’s Us; it gave us a lot to dissect and work with at the same time giving us NOTHING AT ALL
- I’ve seen the teaser to Joker. It gives us about 15% more than nothing for us to compare Heath Ledger’s Joker to
- Yes, we can get an idea of whether or not we’ll like Phoenix’s Joker from the trailer. Yes, we can think that from what we’ve seen, Phoenix’s performance may or may not be better than Ledger’s
- But people are saying that Ledger’s portrayal is the end-all-be-all and that no one else should ever attempt the role again, and that’s stupid
- That’s like saying no one should ever write a story because the one that YOU read was so good that any other story you read won’t hold up to its standards
- Wait... Some people are actually LIKE that... My comparison still stands
Disney says New Mutants is still getting a theatrical release - https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/04/04/disney-confirms-new-mutants-will-still-get-a-theatrical-release
- Apparently at CinemaCon, Alan Horn - the guy responsible for giving James Gunn his Marvel job back - confirmed that not only was New Mutants on its annual “here’s all the movies we’re releasing this year” slide, but that it was definitely gonna get a theatrical release
- Though it may be different from the august date initially made before the Disney acquisition of Fox went through, because a rep stated that a lot of the Fox films that are gonna be released post acquisition are gonna have their dates shifted
- But we don’t know if New Mutants is one of those dates, so we’re KINDA back where we started?
- I say kinda, because at least we did get confirmation that this movie is gonna see the light of day in movie theaters, and not just as a Disney+ exclusive
- And while personally, I don’t care (sorry, I-I just...I honestly don’t)...
- I know a lot of peeps both friends and Readers alike that DO and were concerned about its status after the acquisition and hearing that the reshoots hadn’t happened considering how close to the first release date for the movie
- So there you go. Here’s my gift to everyone who wants this. Don’t say I never gave you anything.
