Gettin' ready to do some tutorials

I'm setting up to do in depth tutorials on transformation photomanipulation and audio morphing. I work out of GIMP so if y'all wanted you could download it for free and start messing around. Or, if you prefer photoshop, those who are experienced will be able to adapt some of the techniques I use. I highly recommend using GIMP even still, as the IWarp tool is the most amazing thing for TF art.

Each episode will focus on one particular technique I use and how to apply it well. The first will probably cover stock photos and finding the right stuff, since this is integral to the work. I'll just be browsing the interwebz and showing what works well together. Finding the right angles, adjusting them where possible, balancing lighting and resolution are probably the first and most important step in photomanipping. Keep in mind that it is always respectful and often required to request usage rights. Photomanipulation still falls under protected derivative work and you could probably get away with calling it a parody, but out of respect to others, always try to get permissions.

Horse comic's still coming! Don't worry guys. Just diverted off a bit temporarily, but it's what I'm working on at the moment.

Also, my friend who had the stroke is recovering and is able to talk. He seems fully cognizant and his personality is unaffected. We're still waiting to see if he will regain usage of one side of his body while he's going through physical therapy.

You gotta keep yourself fresh sometimes and not go stale working on one thing

Sure! When I'm cutting out my layers in GIMP, I set "feathered edges" to 3-5 (usually 3). If I have hard edges later on, I take the smudge tool, scale it down to a very small brush size (think big enough to overlap some of the edge and negative space), put the opacity around 30-50 and the rate at 80, and then I go back and forth, smudging the edge of the layer until it starts looking blurry. Usually I zoom in a lot to make sure I don't accidentally mess up details in the image.

May I ask how you go about avoiding awkward stiff hard-edged (like Edmol) transitions, like seen here <a href="http://fav.me/d92f02i" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://fav.me/d92f02i</a> <a href="http://fav.me/d91fw5c" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://fav.me/d91fw5c</a> ?
