Writing Log #8 - "I think I've reached the part where things get weird."

I almost forgot to write this post because I didn't realize it was Friday already. Almost time to do some reading, gaming, and involuntary lore daydreaming for the weekend! As much as I know I need breaks, it's hard not to think of the dorks...

Thanks to this current chapter being pretty tense, I wanted to do more writing to keep the flow going but decided to call it a day at 2k words today, or 7,200 words total this week. I stopped close to a pretty monumental moment in the book, so that's gonna be fun next week...

No concept art this week, but I'll have a small piece next week when I get to the relevant scene! (Proper concept art is also cooking in my brain, but I'm telling myself to finish the entire first draft before I start doodling those ideas.)

"User Lulu, do you have a moment?"

I have about two hours worth of moments, but my brain is shooting stress signals through my body like the big moment is upon me in two minutes.

[2:00 pm — Call w/ Hifumi]

I put my phone back in my pocket, trying not to think about the upcoming call too much. "What's up?"

Alvin sits down next to me. "I'd like to inquire about something. [Three days] ago at [1:37 p.m.], you mentioned being inside of me and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it."

"Same." The answer throws itself out of my mouth before I even fully processed what he just said. 

We start off the chapter with a slightly quirky entrance from Alvin...and much to Lulu's dismay, no pegging is on the horizon. What he's really talking about is a way for Lulu to investigate his robotic inner workings in the search for hidden data. Almost as good, really.

After briefly introducing Hifumi last week, they're making an appearance in this chapter in the form of a video call! Fun times.

"Ah—hello?" they ask, adjusting the webcam on their end.

"Uh, hi," I say, utterly unprepared for this. "Sorry, the network I'm on likes to be sassy now and then."

Hifumi chuckles in that familiar way they sometimes do when purposely leaving in bloopers in their video essays. "Honestly, I'm surprised I'm getting through to you at all."

"I'm certainly in a situation."

"That's one way to describe it," Hifumi says as they pour themselves a glass of water. "For what it's worth, I don't believe the accusations against you."

"Glad I'm not the unsuspecting star of your next video."

"Of course not. I'm no longer interested now that a big company already exposed you."

I smirk. We're gonna get along great.

They exchange some information and agree to work together as their interests overlap--but Lulu keeps the existence of the Sanctuary and especially Alvin a secret.

"Because I have something very important to protect."

And with the call done, it's time for Lulu to go simulation hopping again.

"This is gonna be sick."

Alvin smiles. "Have you taken a liking to simulations, User Lulu?"

"Are you kidding? They're awesome."

"I'm glad. Please don't hesitate to give me feedback to improve your experience."

"No complaints here. The insanity seems like a feature, not a bug."

Lulu may not be on a fun mission to go find the robot prostate, but it's still going to be a good time and absolutely nothing bad is going to happen.

I'm sure next week I won't reveal that I lied. (I'm doing it for character development, I swear.)

And with that, I'd better walk away... quietly... until next Friday!
