Not a real devlog, so let's call this one #0. Someone asked, and I never miss a chance to talk about my OCs, so here's some random thoughts and info on what I'm up to.

I made prototype keychains featuring T H E M. I have some left over so I'll save them for early supporters 🥹

Since I work in the video game industry and it's been raining nothing but layoffs and consecutive unscheduled weeks (🤪), I've been working up the courage to finally start making my own game. It's only just begun and I expect things to take a few years (unfortunately for my impatient ADHD ass), but I've managed to lay a lot of the groundwork.

Side note: it's not an NSFW/porn game but I'll keep the art coming just like Lulu keeps--okay, yeah, I'll shut up.

Sanctuary 17223 is a contemporary/near future sci-fi romance/comedy centred around the eponymous secret research facility of a strange hospital. It's a character-driven visual novel that tells a predetermined story with minor player input.

At the start, the player is presented with a choice to begin the story of "Lulu" or "Test Subject Lambda."

Lulu is a roller skater who has a bone to pick with pharma giant Goldenrod -- for the heinous crime of destroying the city's last skatepark. After a little heist at their HQ, Lulu escapes to a nearby abandoned hospital where an equally abandoned AI offers her shelter. While hiding from the outside world, they continue to fight and investigate with the help of rather peculiar simulations and a little cyber crime here and there.

Lambda is a human test subject. In the middle of another questionable experiment, the facility is suddenly shut down due to "the apocalypse." Stuck inside with a group of dysfunctional test subjects, Lambda has to keep her sanity while dealing with a strange side effect of the latest experiment: all her senses are now a thousand times stronger--and the arrival of a certain someone triggers a lot of feelings.

It'll be up to you which one is Act 1 and which one is Act 2. No spoilers for how it's connected and what happens in Act 3, of course.

Fittingly, the keychains are actually double-sided: Lulu/Alvin on the front, Lambda/Alpha on the back. Also added some concept art of Lulu/Lambda and (checks notes) the gentle femdom and soft maledom plots. Yeah, that.

I just wanna write a fun, emotional story about a unique 20s - 30s cast (these two dorks have friends, I swear). Until then, I hope the art I draw on the side helps more people feel seen and warm and fuzzy.

Random lore drops:

• Whenever Lulu enters a simulation, her brain creates a scenario in which she's romantically involved with the simulated version of Alvin. Girly's playing questionable dating sims inside her brain.
• Initially, Alvin's free will capabilities are suppressed. Naturally, once he regains control, he uses it to become a YouTuber. You might say he's buddy-buddy with the algorithm.
• In Lulu's story, the first simulation is "the future," the second one is a university setting, and the third one is about that 9-to-5 life. After that, they get called out on how boring they're being with it.
• Lulu will make you join the Sanctuary Skate Club. She may not have access to skateparks and roads, but it's not gonna stop her from rollin'.
• There's a cute sloth mascot character. :)
• I draw a lot of inconsequential "human AU" kinda stuff for fun, but there's often some layer of canon truth to it. Alvin does hate bugs because he's a living computer and I'm basic--I mean, it's cute.
