Comic Updates 5/4/2022

Hey guys! Absolutely massive post incoming, full of information on the continuing production of Donut Delinquent and the future of Thicker Treat Sweets going forward!

Donut Delinquent Chapter 2 finished up today, wrapping up the introductory arc of the story! We're barely past the starting line though, only a third of the way through the first of four planned volumes! This is a comic that will take a couple years to complete, but I'm taking it one step at a time!

I've got a lot of things to talk about in this post, but first of all: Are you guys enjoying Donut Delinquent? I'd love to hear some feedback on what everyone thinks of the comic so far, both positive and negative. This has been a huge undertaking for me, and I just wanna make sure I'm making something people are enjoying before I dive even further into it. Do the characters feel genuine? Is the story flowing well? How is the art?

My biggest fear is the story not being interesting for my readers, especially with the entire "Romance story with Weight Gain in it, not the other way around" angle I'm going for here.

Chapter 3 is going to be a departure from the school setting we've seen for the first two chapters, giving us a look into the casual lives of Hana and Leo. We're going to learn a lot more about Hana, while also meeting more of Leo's family! We'll also get to see Hana in her waitress uniform, and we might see her belly get stuffed again... (one more step on the road to seeing a stuffed belly turn into a fat one!)

The big thing I'll be trying to work on for Chapter 3 is panel layout, trying to make the pages look a bit more interesting than just squares with characters at a 3/4 angle talking, the occasional belly or boob hanging over the panel lol. I've got the entire chapter storyboarded now, so I hope it works out!

I intended to keep this quiet until I got more work done to make a bigger announcement with sample art and all that... but I've received a couple messages about this, both in DMs and Patron exit surveys, so in the interest of being as transparent as possible with you guys, here's an update on Thicker Treat Sweets!

I'm happy to announce that Thicker Treat Sweets will be making a return later this summer, albeit with a completely fresh start and renewed focus.

Production on TRT Sweets was a mess, and while I could go on for paragraphs about it, I'm not going to agonize over it.  All I'm going to say is that I didn't like the direction I was taking it (I made up a LOT as I went along, the whole "rescue his sister bit."), and I'm putting it back on course to my original slice-of-life idea rather than the adventure comic it was turning into.

Let's just say that in the new Sweets, the story will be based around an open, fully thriving Thicker Treat Cafe. Expect more behind the scenes updates over the next couple months! 

Now, why August? Well, I will be continuing to put my all into Donut Delinquent right now as I begin work on Chapter 3, which will will take us to the end of June. At that point.. I intend on taking a month long break from Patreon, pausing billing for the month of July. There will be no poll art, no comic pages, nothing from July 1st to 31st. 

While I mostly intend for July to be a bit of a "Vacation" from art commitments,  I plan on doing some behind the scenes work without the worry of having to meet other obligations. I'll be preparing for the back half of Donut Delinquent Volume 1 and getting the new Thicker Treat Sweets ready for launch. In August, we'll see Sweets reclaim the Wednesday comic slot, sandwiched between Monday/Friday updates for Delinquent.

 For the time being, Donut Holes and other random content will make up the extra weekly perks of the Frisky Feline tier alongside the double vote priveleges. Future teasers and behind the scenes content for the new Sweets will also be exclusive to that tier. 

 While I so desperately want to be more consistent like other comic creators in this community, It's still an uphill battle for me. Thankfully, I've had good luck with Delinquent, giving myself a strong outline to work from (Friends can attest to the 15 page story document!), and I intend on going back to give Sweets the same strong foundations.
