Another sketch comic
Added 2024-09-18 03:41:22 +0000 UTCOn a whim I ended up sketching a Hedgehog's Dilemma comic the other night:
It was pretty low-effort and didn't really fit into the existing comic's continuity, so I just tossed it straight up onto Bluesky and Cohost without really thinking about it.
But then I started doodling this other one today...and I had already been coming to this conclusion, but I think the reason I fell off of making the original run of the comic was because I was just overthinking things way too much? I've got nothing against longform stories but I feel like I let myself get so committed to maintaining such a rigid continuity that it stopped being fun?
Going back and doing these off-the-cuff strips instead, without being as meticulous with the drawing, I feel like I'm having fun making comics again! They don't look as pretty, but somehow they feel more authentic to me.
I don't want to sit here and promise that the series will return to regular updates again or anything like that, especially not based on a couple of rough sketch comics. But I WOULD like to do this more often. Maybe I just need to do a little soft reboot series where I don't rush into the romance plot right away? Or maybe I'll decide I want to continue the story I already started, and I can do these new bits off to the side. I really have no idea where I'll end up landing with this. I guess we'll just have to wait and see?
