Sketchdump: Tigress, Tsenaya, & Snek boops!
Added 2020-11-08 23:30:50 +0000 UTCUsually I'd start off the month with some warmups for you all, but since November is the last month of the Patreon year there's a bunch of stuff I'd really love to get done aside from the Alopex pinup! First, this month's Completion features the Tigress sketch page I did a while ago, and I'll be completing it for for Aureus.
I went in and had another crack at sketching it as I usually do before I finish an image and now that a few months have passed I really understand that upper panel a lot better. The sketch looks much better now and I'm looking forward to getting this one finished up.
Next, while I was pleased with how the "Greasejackal" image I did earlier this year came out, I thought I might actually be able to do myself one better for the cover of the upcoming "Waystone" printed book. Tsenaya leaning on the hood of a car seemed like it might make a good, cute cover so I had a go and I'm thinking I like this one a little better so far- we'll see how it turns out as I progress.
Finally, while Fibh holding up a "thank you" sign for peeps that join up has been fun, I'm thinking that Cebron should have a turn welcoming people who walk through the door...with a friendly snek-struggle-cuddle and nose-boop to get them started!
I find it funny that he's the one doing the booping while the hapless new patron is powerless to do anything but accept the boop XD...

To me, the hand doing the booping seems to have 4 digits, whereas the hand cradling the patron's head seems to only have 3. I dunno if it's a mistake or not, and I think I recall you musing in the past on which you liked better, but if I may state my opinion, I've always been partial to 3. 3 meaty digits with big claws...erm, anyway....yes, uh, hand fetish aside, good work I love it.~

2020-11-10 12:57:41 +0000 UTCTsenaya's pupils are diamond-shaped as kind of a tribute to Pidge from the Voltron: Legendary Defender series. She's my favorite character of the team and I wanted to incorporate a little bit of her into Tsenaya's design. I also think it helps sets her apart from the other characters. Nailah's pupils are sharp and almost reptilian to reflect Cebron's. You'll notice that while the pupil is sharp, the overall iris is rounded, while Tsenaya's pupils and iris are both diamond shaped. It's a little weird I'll admit, but I just like drawing them that way :).

Something I've been wondering for awhile, and I'm sorry if I missed it elsewhere... Is there significance behind Tsenaya's irises/pupils being diamond-shaped? I've noticed that sometimes Nailah is drawn with diamond pupils and sometimes not, so I've always wondered if it was just a stylistic choice, or if it's something more.
