A little honesty
Added 2024-04-28 20:05:50 +0000 UTCI'm killing the discord in cold blood. I made it solely because other authors did it and people asked, but I've always hated discord in general and I'm tired of seeing its icon on my desktop. You can still message me here on Patreon and receive a response in a somewhat timely fashion. I also read the comments on most recent chapters for a day or two afterward, and then again when I'm editing for Royal Road.
I said in the livestream some of you watched that I intended to release a new project in June or July. If we translate that from Nemorosus-speak, that means July 31st, because I'm a master at putting things off until the last moment. I need to start working on these projects in earnest. I work best under pressure. Hence, I promise next Saturday and Sunday will have 2k word previews of the two new projects I'm working on.
The first one is called Braindead Power Fantasy, and it's a parody of LitRPG, GameLit, and all other peripheral genres. Written by David Dixon, it stars an '''''''ordinary office worker'''''''' named Dave Dickson (unrelated to author) in a system apocalypse (trademark term courtesy of Tao Wong) fighting against Fake Tension using his secret class, Contrivance. It's very stupid, but I think it's funny. I hope you agree.
The second one is called Devil's Debtor. It's a LitRPG taking place in a world mirroring the Age of Discovery. Time was people gained power and skills by slaying monsters, but most monsters have been slain for centuries, leaving rigid power structures of nobility and theocracy. Now, power can only be gained by slaying other men. The discovery of a new continent teeming with monsters threatens to upend existing power structures, and our main character is at the heart of it all in his quest for revenge against his father, who forced him to take the vows (among other terrible things) because of a curse he bears. Our main character enters into a deal with a devil to cure said curse, and the burden of debt pushes him forth without an end. There will be piracy.
I'll have a more detailed synopsis on the day of. For now, please tell me which one interests you more, or if both sound like a waste of your time. Be blunt.

Devil's Debtor seems marginally more interesting, but I think I'd need to hear some more about it to be intrigued. What are "the vows"?

I enjoy a good parody immensely but my favourite Stories so far have Always been "serious and original Stories". I will definitely be checking out both Stories though!
