2025-09-11 06:50:35 +0000 UTCTanjiro is stopping Nezuko from hugging because it made Tomoya cry. It's not really because he thinks a demon is crying. He can smell emotions so he thought Nezuko made her cry, he felt Tomoya's sadness. Tanjiro see demons as people, even if they have killed many, as long as he can smell human emotions from them he does not think of them as monsters. This is a concept which is used in all his fights. It's a Japanese thing, usually I think their culture always prefer to show politeness over kindness first. So hugging someone who is not close can be considered rude.
