Welcome back, backers! We hope you've been enduring this last bit of chilly winter air. Thankfully, warmer weather is here, and we’re budding with new updates to show you all. Let's spring right into it!

We’re thrilled to share a sneak peek at some working shots for the animated intro we received from our animation studio, Knights of the Light Table. It’s coming together!!
Receiving these shots allows us to align our vision of TOUCHSTARVED with the gorgeous work Knights of the Light Table provides us. Creating a collaboration pipeline with them over the past few months has really helped us expedite the review and feedback process. We schedule meetings to review each shot and discuss any revisions necessary, and our producers work hard in multiple production tools and Excel sheets to ensure a timely delivery.
We’re so thankful to work with such a talented team of animators. Their dedication and skill are evident in every frame, and it’s a joy to witness the animation process unfold.

In-house, our art team is working on NPC designs to help bring the world of TOUCHSTARVED to life!
Silhouetting while concepting allows us to visualize the shapes these characters create, which can indicate the characters' personality, build, and uniqueness. Identifying a character through their shape quickly can enhance your experience, especially in a visually heavy storytelling environment.
The right balance for NPCs is to make them visually distinct while simplifying their design so they don’t shine too brightly. You might end up catching feelings for an NPC (trust us, we’ve been there), and we don’t have time to write a whole new route for them, unfortunately 😔

Remember the work-in-progress shot of the background from last month? Take a look at the completed version of the background. You can see how all the details are rendered to life!
This month the tech team’s been busy! We’re starting to implement large amounts of assets into Unity, which requires extensive organization and plain old elbow grease. Ensuring all the files are correctly labeled and placed into their respective folders is a lot of work, but we’re glad to be progressing.
Our lead programmer has been working hard to create animated transitions within the game. This task requires a careful approach to ensure the animations look good while maintaining the game's performance. We’re running into a few roadblocks with achieving the effect we’d like to implement in the game while not slogging down the build, but we’re hopeful that with some time, we’ll be able to create seamless transitions between scenes.
We mentioned that we were working on the character themes for the main love interest 👀 now you get to hear a snippet of Mhin’s character theme!

We love working with our composer; the music composing process has been a creative delight. If there’s an interest in learning more about our audio process, we may do a deep dive in a future update.
On top of working on the game, some team members made their way over to San Francisco for GDC. We were incredibly inspired by the conversations we had with fellow developers striving to make games despite the state of the industry. We even ran into a few fans, which was exciting to experience in person! Maybe if we have more time on our hands, we’ll try to attend more events to meet the TOUCHSTARVED community!
