A Talk with Patreon Trust & Safety...
Added 2024-11-16 03:36:27 +0000 UTCI recently reached out to Patreon to ask about a potential solution to the issue of advertising, because not being able to advertise my Patreon sucks.
To those not informed: I have not been able to public advertise my Patreon for a year due to guideline changes. If my Twitter were to contain any content that violated this platform's guidelines, like hypnosis, pet play, diaper play, or any other type of subject matter that previously warranted a ban -- even if NONE of those works were shared ON Patreon -- I could still be banned on Patreon.
However, Linktree was a solution as an intermediary "safe space" between Twitter and Patreon, even if Twitter contained guideline-violating content.

Unfortunately, after reaching out to Patreon Trust & Safety to check if my new idea for advertising was allowed - I was met with this response:
It turns out that even Linktree is no longer a safe way to advertise my Patreon, so now I am no longer able to advertise my Patreon AT ALL with a direct link. Combine that with the fact that Patreon is going to start paying me at a slower rate next year... It paints a pretty disappointing picture.
Anyway, nothing has changed about the Patreon experience right now for you. I'm still (currently) allowed to use Patreon, but I thought I would still let you know that I am no longer allowed to advertise my Patreon - and thus, I will not be able to reliably grow my income on Patreon anymore from here on out.
Don't forget to eat & sleep.

2024-11-16 18:18:23 +0000 UTCI have been on SubStar for a year now (every since I was forced to limit advertising to Linktree), but it has its own issues. It's less accessible (no paypal), many users simply will not make the switch, is a bit less user friendly, and has less name brand recognition for growth.
