It's a good bit of LGBT history that a lot of youngsters (myself included) never really understood the impact of. After watching that show it made me more aware of these diseases (more aware that the crap they taught us in sexual health class in school). I think a lot of your younger audience would benefit seeing this show. It puts a lot of things into perspective.

Another I’d like to see others react to is the film Personal Services if you can get your hands on it. Starring Julie Walters and directed by Terry Jones from Monty Python, it’s a 1987 biopic of Cynthia Payne, one of Britain’s most notorious 20th century madams. She developed a specialization in older people who at the time were seen as sexual deviants including trans and cross dressers. A number of clients were peers, MPs, judges, vicars, business leaders, and the decorated ex-Wing Commander who proudly flew “207 missions over occupied territory in bra and panties.” The film feels dated but looking at how society’s attitudes have radically changed could prove interesting.

2023-08-26 06:47:51 +0000 UTCThere's a Channel 4 show called "It's a Sin" which came out a few years ago. It's set in the 1980s during the Aids crisis in London. The plot gets quite dark but it's well worth a watch.
