That was a really terrific discussion, and I enjoyed so many of the points you brought up. I especially liked the idea, which I’ve heard before, that sexuality does not equal personality (or maybe it’s the other way around - or both). I think that’s one of the things that made it hard to except that I was gay growing up way back in the 1970s when the only gay people you saw were very flamboyant and stereotypical. So while I knew I was physically attracted (and emotionally attracted, though I was less aware of it) to other guys, I certainly didn’t act like or have the same interests that those stereotypical gay men did. And as you said, the reality is that you can be queer and be you, even if “you“ isn’t what people expect you to be. Thank you for sharing this podcast with us here!

Great podcast! I think one of the major values you bring is non-stereotypicality ... the experiences and feelings you talk about are ones that many young people can relate to. I like your emphasis that each of us is an individual, and we don't have to accept all the attributes of any particular "label." Many of the issues you discussed are ones that I have faced at one time or another in the last 50+ years of coming out, so it's great to let people know what they are likely to face, and that it's a natural process. Oddly enough, I few days while cleaning out a drawer, ago I came across a fortune from a Chinese fortune cookie: "One must dare to be himself, however frightening or strange that self may prove to be." Thanks again for being you!
