Mapwrights Ledger - Free Patron Map Release

Greetings Traveler,

While we all like to see the finished work, sometimes its nice to take a look at the work in progress. This month we will be diving into some maps that are still under construction.

Picture this: a wild, multi-leveled, and totally chaotic work site as the perfect stage to unleash some goons on your players. It's like a playground full of environmental hazards and unexpected terrain! I wanted to experiment with a concept that you don't often see in the TTRPG map world. Time to give it a shot and see where the fun takes us!

I was able to craft 3 packs this month, with 18 variants + roof and floor assets for this setting. I hope you can find some use for them at your tables!

Alley Construction | 30x15 | Urban - 8 Variants + Roof Assets

Pardon our dust, adventurers! Growth and innovation are forged from the ground up, and this alley brims with untold possibilities. Sometimes, your party stumbles upon opportunity—if they know where to look. Tools can become weapons, lumber can form barriers, and crawl spaces can serve as secret hideouts. It may not look like much now, but with the right player and a dash of imagination, this alley could be the lucky break they've been seeking.

Cathedral Restoration | 25x25 | Urban - 6 Variants + 5 Roof/Level Assets

During the renovations of an ancient cathedral, a priceless artifact has been unearthed. The bishop, excited yet cautious, has been ordered not to touch it until the higher clergy can verify its authenticity. However, a fierce storm is brewing, expected to rage for a day or more, delaying the clergy's arrival for at least two days. The bishop already suspects that word of the treasure has spread through the town, and rumors of a plot to steal it are growing.

Safehouse Construction | 20x20 | Urban - 4 Variants + Roof Assets + Second Floor Assets

When your team needs to lay low, they head straight to the safehouse—a newly constructed hideout in a nondescript part of town. Here, your players can rest and regroup while the bad guys scour the city streets in search of them. With vantage points from the second floor, a sentry can keep watch over the streets below, giving the team precious time to plan their next move. But stay sharp—it only takes one slip-up for the bad guys to come crashing through the front door!

Other Projects — Steamforged Games

I have gotten the awesome opportunity to do some work for Steamforged Games under a few of their upcoming projects. The first of these to go public is their Iron Kingdoms: Strangelight Workshop Kickstarter. Its a standalone 5e roleplaying game of occult and otherworldly investigation set in the Iron Kingdoms universe.

My map of the city of Ceryl got prominently featured on their Kickstarter, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be contributing battle maps to the completed project! If you want to check it out, there are still a couple of days left to back the Kickstarter.

I can't wait to share more about these projects as I'm able to! This journey has been incredibly fun and educational. I've already applied some of the new techniques I've learned to my recent maps, and I've got even more exciting ideas that will be useful for future maps!

Spotlight

For my table, I recently ran an incredibly thrilling one-shot that had been on my radar for a while—WHEN THE SWALLOWS FLY LOW by Corkboards & Curiosities. They have an amazing video detailing the adventure, loaded with vibrant descriptions and wonderfully flavored dialogue examples. Plus, they offer a free pdf on their site that includes a stunning isometric map of the theater's catwalks where the climax happens! My whole table was totally immersed in the mystery adventure, and I've been blown away by their other videos on GMing. I highly recommend their content—definitely check it out!

Free Variant Drop

Every month I pick one of my favorite map variants that is normally reserved for certain tiers, and release it to all patrons!

This month I chose the "Cathedral Restoration - Ritual". What dark things are gathering on this holly ground!

If you want to see previous variant drops, you can find the whole library here

Thanks for joining in on the adventure!

Cheers,

-Nate | Bearworks
