Could rats help save lives?

There are an estimated 110 million landmines still lodged in over 60 countries around the world. Sixty million people live at risk of being maimed or killed by these explosives. Annual accident rates vary by country and while some have seen a reduction in the number of injuries, others have seen massive spikes. As a result, in 2017, two NGOs at the head of the landmine clearance effort came together to launch a new initiative aiming to rid the work of landmines by 2025. But they can't do the work alone. They need financial support from governments around the world and the help of smaller organizations working in the field. Organizations like APOPO and their HeroRats.
