Hail friends! I bring you a gift that is owed, a map created using Dungeondraft. It was the 3-patron goal reward, and I am now presenting it to you as we hit 15… But in all sincerity, you all are awesome, and I am glad to get to make this stuff for you. I wanted to take the map and spice it up, so I decided to create a little one-pager with it in the style of a quick reference. Hopefully, it is more useful to you that way!
The one-pager was designed to provide a GM with a quick outline of a one-shot or side quest for their players to enjoy. The GMs portion encompasses a single map of an area and includes adventure hooks, location descriptions, suggested puzzles and traps, suitable encounters, and theme-appropriate loot. An included player version has an enlarged map and no notes for use as a battlemap or reference for players.
The one-pager serves as a source of inspiration and suggestion, the GM will still be required to tweak the information presented here to better suit the needs of their games. This includes but is not limited to adjusting monster numbers and types, changing skill check levels, and adjusting loot to match that of the party.
So… Dungeondraft. It is much different than Inkarnate, that is for sure. I won’t be running back to it quickly, but it does have some interesting features. However, it's looking like Inkarnate has plans to implement similar features in the future. I think you all prefer the consistent art style I use, and I can appreciate that. So, what might Dungeondraft be used for? Well, this. I am looking to make more of these one-pagers. Until incarnate implements the tools that make it easier for Dungeondraft to make these simple maps I’ll look to Dungeondraft for these types of products.
As I mentioned, I have plans to do this again. I enjoyed the process and received positive feedback from those that I shared it with. The plan is to polish this one and draft what it might look like for purchase. Then when there is time, create other one-pagers. The plan is to provide these to patrons as supplemental rewards. However, since it falls outside the normal workflow of making my standard map content for you all, it comes second, and thus will only come when it doesn’t detract from the main focus here. Hope that all makes sense.
As always, if you need something just reach out, and would love to hear what you think about this one!
Cheers,
