Nervous
Added 2020-10-29 16:17:45 +0000 UTCWe are less then a week away from launching our new season of the Heroes Of Podcast.
I'm getting a little nervous. To be honest I’m not sure why. So I'm writing this out to find out why.
Jack and I have been hard at work reading the first book of the Stormlight archive by Brandon Sanderson. Reading is hard work. I never thought it would be. I was forced to read for a half an hour every night by my mom when I was a kid and then I grew up loving to read. Thanks mom. But reading is different then taking notes and trying to see the underlying themes, imagery and foreshadowing. I love it, don't get me wrong, but man it's hard. The book is called The Way of Kings and it might be the best book i've ever read. And yes before you start throwing an ungodly amount of titles at me to prove that there are way better books out there, I've probably read them. Maybe I haven't, I don't know what you're going to say; that's true, but still, if you have read The Way of Kings, then you are not arguing with me. It's the best. Brandon Sanderson is the best at what he does too. Mistborn, Warbreaker, so far all three of the Stormlight Archive: go ahead fight me.
I think maybe the reason I'm so nervous is because of how good the material is. I want to do a show that is as good as the material, I respect it too much to not pay proper homage to it.
Jack and I just got new mics and damn it sounds good, sexy if i say so myself. Well, as sexy as two D&D nerds talking about a Fantasy series like its Literature can be.
Does anyone want to hear us? Does anyone care or have time for another book review podcast? I guess that's the worst part, Jack and I have put together a pretty decent show and I just want people to hear it. But maybe I should listen to the teachings of The Way of Kings. It ultimately doesn't matter if anyone listens, the enjoyment that my friend and I got from making it should be enough. Journey before destination!
