Holden and Naomi did discuss that the Belters had to take the same drugs before going down to the planet's surface, and even that some of them died under the strain or had to give up and go back to the ship in orbit. It wasn't shown on-screen, but presented in dialogue. For comparison, Mars has approximately 1/3 of Earth's gravity, and Belter facilities with gravity (Like Ceres and Tycho station) rotate at approximately 1/4 of Earth's gravity.

Apparently Amazon let the expanse production crew use some of their servers for CGI rendering and stuff, which probably helped out in the CGI effects part of the show. The book "Don Quixote" that his mom gives Holden is his favorite book. There's a couple mentions in season 1 about the book and Holden wanting to be a knight. "The Rocinante" was Don Quixote's horse in the book. That's where Holden got the name from. Bobbi's sister-in-law "Rana" was named after Rana from "The Normies." The author of the expanse actually commented that on their reaction video. The authors like watching reaction videos to the expanse, and the normies were one of the first, definitely the first big channel to react to the expanse. The people who Ashford killed were pirates not refugees. But it sort of triggered Ashford because he was a pirate, now he's killing his own to protect the people he would have robbed before.
