2023-07-20 04:16:46 +0000 UTCGood luck with your homework! The pods weren't being transported somewhere else for further research or study, this was an Attack on Mars. The intent was for them to hit the planet and release the hybrids to kill everybody there. Errinwright (and Admiral Nguyen) have been wanting to destroy Mars all along, that's why Chrisjen immediately knew they were being sent to Mars as soon as they were launched. Something which I didn't realize until I saw somebody else point out it out, but Chrisjen is wearing Julie Mao's racing outfit when Mao is brought before her. Chrisjen had earlier referred to it as wearing the skin of her enemy (Mao). So with her wearing Julie's "skin", it's as though Julie herself is here to see her father finally taken down. She had joined the OPA to fight him, even gave her life trying to fight him, and now she's here at his end. Great bit of poetry that. This is the finale of the second book in the series ("Caliban's War"). The next episode starts the third book, "Abaddon's Gate".
