But when her work is interrupted by an unfamiliar face, she has no problem chasing him out of the Prince's library...not know the man she's throwing salt at is in fact the Prince. In this episode we get a good look at their lives as adults and the start of a nice round and round as she tries to apologize to a Prince whose face she doesn't know while also helping him in the library.

Thus, the crown prince's side didn't want to let the King know about the threat/assassination and disclose everything in public (to keep a low profile and not showing a "weak" side which may damage the crown prince's image/"power" if that make sense). The officers/people in court already know about the crown prince's father and use it as the biggest reason against the crown prince. It's not something the King tried to hide. The head court lady assigns the transcribing tasks to the Female Lead with a hidden agenda (will be discussed in later episodes). The books are hard for the FL to understand ("The Supplement of the Expostion of the Great Learning" is not a book to be read by general/ordinary people but for high ranking officers/royalties who could receive education at that time. It's a supplement and explanation for the text "Great Learning" which is about the confucius' principle, Zengzi, instead of the crown prince/his father's history/background). In the library, when she had trouble understanding the texts, she overheard the lecture of the crown prince, where he is learning the same book. As mentioned, the words and lectures of the royalties (King, crown prince, etc.) should never be eavesdropped/overheard (It's ranking issue, they are very serious about the society rankings in the past. Royalties especially the King and crown prince are the highest rank). Hence, the crown prince thought she is a spy sent by his oppositions (the assassins) when he discovered she was reading the very same book that he was learning. It's not about the content of the book but her act itself (a "low-ranking" maid not allowed to attend class/learn is reading a book which is difficult to understand/"out of her rank". In the past, confucianism is something for high-ranking people to learn/possess in many eastern countries.) makes her suspicious. (They couldn't tell the King regarding the assassination and he is low-key investigating it during breaks.) The head court lady asked the FL to transcribe another book about the anthologies in Joseon dynasty (similar difficulty & also a book for higher-ups) that's why she refused at first. When the head court lady pushed it further, she knew that she cannot refuse the job. They (including the FL and Junho) did attended calligraphy classes prior to filming. Though I am not sure if the words shown on screen are really written by them) Apart from that, all main characters also took traditional etiquette classes pre-filming, which is shown in the bts clips. They believed throwing salt could push devils away after unwelcomed people visit in the past. It's a fact recorded in history that bestie is the most handsome man at that time lol The actor is formerly under JYPE and he said he is pressured to portrait a historical figure with such a reputation and practised a lot to look handsome π€£

She does get herself into some things but I feel like her heart is in the right place. Everytime the tiger kept popping up tho I kept wanting to say "Horanghaeee" π―π thank you guys for this!
