Goblin | Guardian: The Lonely and Great God Ep. 12

The man truly responsible for Shin's death begins to show himself to Euntak while Shin and our Reaper piece an interesting puzzle that leads to Deokhwa, surprisingly! With this episode we have a bit more kind of explained about god as well as our Reaper deciding to give Sunny her memories of her past life with a kiss, ultimately reconnecting her to Shin. There's a lot that goes on but we're clearly building up to something big and we are so here for it.

One thing about the "you saved a nation in your past life"! It's a common saying in Korean culture, to say "You must have saved a nation in your past life", to mean that a person is extremely lucky, and lives a good life currently. It's because reincarnation is a common element of Korean culture, mainly due to Buddhism being the major religion of many past dynasties/countries of Korea. Korean folklore also features reincarnation, though I can't quite remember which story/influence would've come first.

The lady in red comes from Korean mythology. Her name is listed as β€œSamsin” if you look that name up with Korean mythology it will kinda make sense about her role. I fell down the rabbit hole around Korean mythology after this drama lol

My theory is, I think what lady-in-red said was about Kim Shin and Reaper. The butterfly God put a 'veil' between those two and that's why Shin never saw Yeo's face on the Reaper. So after the butterfly God left, he also lifted the 'veil' and that is the first time Shin actually was able to see Yeo's face on the Reaper and started to suspect that the Reaper is Wang Yeo. If you look back to the time Shin turned into a Goblin, some time actually had pass because the Goblin's servant is old and has a grandson at that time and the same servant is much younger when Shin was killed. The same happen to Park Joong Hoon where he was much younger when Shin was killed but he was older with grey beard when Shin turned to Goblin and came back to kill him. If you watch that episode again, when Shin came back and killed Park Joong Hoon, there was a royalty corpse wrapped in beautiful fabric on the altar and that is the King, Wang Yeo. That's why Shin said 'I'm too late' or something like that. Anyways, I always get teared up at the scene of Deok Hwa crying and Shin consoling him, and also the scene where Reaper and Sunny cried after the kiss. The first is so sad but heart-warming, while the second is so sad and heartbreaking. Stay safe and healthy. I'm looking forward to your next reaction!! 😁
