Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung Ep. 5

This episode we talk junk and murder as we try to piece this puzzle together. Hae-ryung finally gets her first real Historian gig as she records the daily life of Yi Rim and the Crowned Prince. We can already see sparks flying but Hae-ryung already seems to be getting herself in more trouble as she tries to tackle the pay issue and also possibly embarrasses Yi Rim with her archery skills.

I guess everybody explained about Eunuch business. I just want to highlight that how hard Eunwoo's aka Prince Yi Rim last line to Hae Ryung hit. 'Nobody comes here. You can cry all you want, nobody will hear you'. He not only give her space to deal with her emotions but it also highlighted what a lonely life he lived. Nobody hurt his cries or noticed his loneliness. How he has been exiled for no fault of his own. Also, there are many alpha male leads but Yi Rim is perfect life partner for strong headed, independent woman like Hae Ryung. He gives her freedom, space, respects her and above all he allows her to be her. Nobody will suit her more than him. Can't wait for more awesome reactions.

Love the analogy usage lol It definitely clarified it a lot more to me and I learned something new

They don’t really explain this in the drama so I hope I’m not giving anything away, but Sambo being married to the assassin/physician is a way for her to get in and out of the palace in a legitimate way. Now whether Sambo is in on the plan or not, I won’t say anymore but he seems to be genuinely fond of her, whether as a wife/woman or somebody whom he has a shared history with, is up to the audience to decide. I think it’s both. That crying scene at the end, great acting! They really picked the perfect actors for this. She is the right mix of intelligent and pretty. Have you seen this? She is actually really gorgeous but they tone her prettiness down in the drama to focus more on her personality. https://youtube.com/shorts/JePDUVzhHGY?feature=share

Sambo is a Eunuch, but in Joseon (ancient Korea) and ancient China, loyal eunuchs of the king were often rewarded with marriage. It's hilarious because there are TOO many concubines and consorts etc. All women in the palace belong to the king/emperor, but he can't possibly please them or attend to them all, so some of them get married to eunuchs. Eunuchs can't impregnate anyone, which makes them safe companions for the woman, since any children she bears would still be the king's. (Also, like Khaira said, marriage is a business arrangement so it was primarily to transfer assets or power of some kind.) And yeah, there are ways to please someone without using your junk lmao. So even if the junk doesn't work, they can do other stuff. Remember in the first episode, the court lady and the eunuch were in love, so Sambo had them banished from the palace so they wouldn't get executed or whatever,

The naming conventions are similar to ours once you see the analogies. The royal families name is Yi, a-hole King is Yi Tae, and the kids are Yi Jin and Yi Rim. Buuuuttttttt, the public does not get to call them those names. Just like if a student called me by my first name heads would roll. Only family can all each other by their given names and even then really it's siblings only. They are called by their titles; King, Crown Prince (Yi Jin-older brother) and Prince Dowon (Yi Rim-Eunwoo). The junk questions. Ok..there are several ways to deal with the junk; complete physical removal of the berries, small slits in the berries (vasectomies), chemically neutralizing and taking both twig and berries out! The berries make most of the hormones for...um...fruiting (I'm trying to keep this clean). They can still be attracted to others as the discussion in NSFW channel went inot detail on a while ago. They just don't want to put the pollen tube to work.....Are ya dying of laughing yet. Moving on! In this time period it is more than likely the first thing. The Eunach is an appointed position. This is not something that they were 'born' into. They were appointed to these positions and it was very prestigious and honorable. They can/could be married and have kids before they gained the appointment. Also, the marriages in the time period were also mostly the arranged business type of marriages. If your faimly is high enough for the male to be appointed an Eunach, your marriage was more than likely arranged. Different cultures also handled this differently so there are some variations.
