I think the comment the official made about comparing serving the crowned prince to the dethroned king is just in reference to the the crown prince being like the dethroned king who champions his subjects and doesn’t hesitate to challenge the status quo and stand up to the officials. As you are starting to see, the officials believe that they’re the ones that run the kingdom and the king should just be a figurehead. But your theories are interesting to hear. You’re getting warmer. 😉 Also, it’s been mentioned a few times already in past episodes, and emphasized even more in this episode, but just in case you missed it, the righteous and rigid senior historian, Officer Min, is the son of the 2nd State Councillor, Min Ik-pyeong, the evil, power hungry official who the other officials bow to. As for Eunwoo’s “anatomy”, like the others already explained, she based it on what he was wearing. If you ever want to try another sageuk, there is another good drama called Love in the Moonlight where you’ll learn all about eunuchs. The twist is the FL has to pretend to be the eunuch to the crown prince who is the ML. Highly recommend it!

LMAO, Haeryung mistook Prince Dowon for a eunuch because he was wearing Sambo's outfit as a disguise, and your costumes in the palace indicate your rank. So, she thinks he's "not really a man" while simultaneously finding him adorable. And who can blame her!

2022-10-16 05:52:40 +0000 UTCSince Eun Woo was in the Eunuch's uniform, Hae-Ryung knew he was most likely castrated to prevent him from interacting sexually with any woman in the King's court, or anywhere for that matter. This made Eunuchs very safe to guard women's living areas if needed because any temptation would be removed. (Many of those women in the living areas would be concubines or BECOME concubines of the king. The female historians were probably viewed by the vicious court ladies in this light, as "mere" women, or maids who might end up sleeping with the king, and not as respected female historians. On the other hand, the Queen Dowager showed them graciousness as an acknowledgment of their positions as historians and not just as women. I'm sure she probably knows why they've been hired though). Sam-bo would make an ideal servant or companion of sorts to royalty like Eun Woo's character because eunuchs were viewed as less threatening in their ability to bring about physical harm.

The current king is the brother or half-brother (I forget which) of the previous king. I want to say half and he is the son of a concubine. The Crown Prince and Prince Lee are the current kings children. He is touchy about anyone usurping his power. Queen Dowager is the grandmother to the princes, making her essentially Step-mom to current king. It was her husband that had him with a concubine if I remember it correctly. The Crowned Prince is married, so there is a Crowned Princess as mentioned in this episode but as this is politics and monarchies it was a political marriage and not one of love or like.
