Pick Dan's next playthrough!

Hello! I think it's high time y'all got to pick a playthrough for the channel again!

What? Why?

If you've been a patron for a while, then you'll no doubt be familiar with our Bonus Playthrough tradition: every time we hit a new 100-patron threshold (100 total patrons, 200 total patrons, etc), y'all get to pick a game to be played on the channel in addition to the weekly playthroughs already in progress.

The last bonus game y'all chose was Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which was an excellent pick. But it was also like two years ago! And our total number of patrons has more-or-less held steady since then, which means it's been a while since y'all got the chance to suggest and vote for a playthrough. And that's no fun!

So I've decided that, every now and then, y'all will get to pick the playthrough for the main weekday slot instead.

How it works:

As is tradition, the process will go like this:

So if you're supporting us for $2 or more, you'll soon be sent another post with a link to the game suggestion form. And then I'll send out another post for the final vote in the next several days.

I'm excited to see what y'all pick! As always, thank you so much for supporting these things we make. <3

i would super prefer watching him start with pikmin 1 than pikmin 4, but i would love to see dan get into pikmin.

I honestly think Dan would enjoy Pikmin. Especially 4, since it is by far the most approachable. The gameplay loop is fun, and there is a bunch of hidden lore to read through! There's a bestiary and a treasure log, and then a HUGE amount lore hidden in a third journal made up of entries from a single family of spacefarers. It's not quite as extensive as FromsSoft, but it's still good. And there is a challenge mode that is hard but doable. And unlike the first game, there is no time limit. And the real seller? The game is just so gorgeous.

I actually would really love to see Dan and Carrie tackle Aegis Defenders co-op. It's this nifty little indie game that's a cross between a 2D platformer and a tower defense game... and somehow it works?! All with a charming art style, lovable characters, and a pretty cool story to boot. Wish more people played it/talked about it...

The Chants of Sennar series was actually going to be Heaven's Vault, but they bailed on it for not quite suiting the format.

Screwtapello

Also, Dan and Carrie liked Chants of Sennar so much that Heaven's Vault seems like another logical choice. How many games about archeo-xenolinguistics do you want?

Subnautica, Pentiment. Different reasons but both excellent choices for the Playframe format.

"There is no game" - great choice. Truly a hidden gem and recommendation of culture.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim Its pretty. It's a narrative mystery visual novel with a fun strategy game attached. And more people need to see the game played. Indie wise there's a game called "Eternal Strand" by Yellow Brick Games that's caught my eye I don't have a lot of time to devote to but I'm very curious about the story. Would love to see Dan tackle it.

Not sure how people felt about the first Everhood, but Everhood 2 is coming out tomorrow (March 4th).

My suggestion? Any of the Yakuza games. I know that's a big ask, but I'm getting into Like a Dragon right now (aka the one with new protagonist Ichiban and the turn based RPG combat) and I think it'd be a hoot (plus that one's proving to be a good jumping-on point). My wife's suggestion? Either Mass Effect or Dragon Age. I mean, their spectres loom large over any gaming channel, and you've barely dipped your toe into either onscreen, so why not? Either way, whatever it is, I hope it's fun!

I'm hoping for The Messenger as well. It's been previewed in one-off Wednesdays and nominated for bonus playthroughs before. We'll just have to see what the people want. Here's hoping we can listen to Dan read the all of the conversations between the messenger and the shopkeeper!

Megabyte01

If you're looking for more indie games, I'd recommend void stranger, furi, Lies of P, Eastward, the messenger or "there is no game"

And then I finished reading the post of "there will be a form in a few days". Oops. I'm not sure if I need more coffee or less.

7 Days to End With You is an interesting linguistic puzzle game that you might get a kick out of, but it also might not exactly be great for the channel. I'm also knee-deep in a Metaphor rabbit hole right now so I HAVE to suggest Metaphor: ReFantazio. If I had to pick between the two, probably the latter one, but the former is an interesting little thing to put on your radar regardless.
