Tell me your Pokémon Nuz-lite ideas!

If we ever did a Pokémon Nuz-lite run on the channel, what rules would make it the most fun? And which game in the series would be best for it?

I should probably explain... in this month's Q&A stream, someone asked if I'd ever consider attempting a Nuzlocke run on the channel (for the uninitiated: those are challenge runs where you can only catch one Pokémon per area and have to permanently get rid of any Pokémon that faints in battle). My initial thought was "no", given I'm not familiar enough with any of the games to strategize effectively, but the more we discussed the possibility on stream, the more potential I saw in the idea.

That said, we'd definitely need some custom PlayFrame rules.

For one thing, we'd need to homebrew some sort of "easy mode" version of traditional Nuzlocke rules, just to ensure I actually survive more than three episodes. I've only finished two Pokémon games ever and y'all saw how Sword went. XD

And it would still HAVE to be fun to watch! Rules that necessitate long grind-fests just to survive don't make for great TV.

AND I'd love to figure out a way to still be able to catch/name a lot of Pokémon friends! The most fun aspect of Pokémon Sword was being able to name new catches after patrons (and use so many of them in battle!).

It could be that a Nuzlocke run just isn't the best fit for PlayFrame, but I figured I'd give y'all the opportunity to brainstorm on it a bit before ruling the possibility out completely. So what do you think? What would make for the most entertaining (hypothetical) Pokémon challenge run on PlayFrame?

You could... (these are and/or's) - set type restrictions so you could only capture the first one of a particular type that you encounter (but if you are actually unable to capture the literal first one you can capture another of that same kind, just not another kind) (double-types count as only the primary type) - set a rolling type restriction so before you are allowed to capture one of the same or overlapping type, you have to capture all the way through the "type wheel" first (in no particular order as long as you get through all remaining types before getting the same type again) - put some less restrictive limit in place per area, such as no more than 3 (or n) types per area (double-types count as 2) - have the restriction(s) be on party membership rather than capture, and keep the others in separate 'zoo' boxes so you don't use them while completing the main game - any party members who are knocked out go to a special 'resting' box but don't have to be released, and if you manage to get all the way down to under a full team, you can take them back to replace those entering 'rest', but only in the same order in which they originally got knocked out Just some ideas ^_^
