Yokai Doctor
Yokai Doctor
Yusuke is a demon, his mazoku seed is strong with him granting him memories. Using these memories he develops techniques, using his powers to become a yokai doctor, using both spirit and demon energy to treat wounds. Imagine his surprise when a human comes to him wanting to learn from him. He decides to take him on, he's an idiot, but he has a good heart. Yusuke/Leorio/Harem
Chapter 1 Mazoku's Heir
When Yusuke Urameshi was born, he was seemingly born still. As far as the doctors could hear he had no heartbeat, but he suddenly began to cry. Years upon years of human to human descendants came, none of them knowing of their ancestry. It all built up tighter and tighter, until the seed manifested inside Yusuke.
The stopped ticker was a sign of this as demon hearts didn't beat in the typical sense. Demon hearts could beat once a day, a week, a month, a year, depending on the type and class of demon it varied. His heart drummed with emotion.
The boy had access to both spirit and demon energy. Along with what was known as lineage memories. The mazoku seed carried with it knowledge from one heir to the next, granting Yusuke an archive of knowledge. Given his demon biology he had plenty of time to learn.
His body only needed 4 hours of sleep to function, so he had plenty of time to whittle away the hours going through the archive. For Yusuke it was like walking a mile in someone else's shoes, a dream, a movie, or a virtual reality experience.
It was the knowledge from his demon father that allowed him to hone and harness his energy. So he trained and worked it, for what he didn't quite know…yet…
As the years passed Yusuke got a bad reputation in school. He was looked down on by some teachers early on because of his family situation. This attitude didn't sit too kindly with Yusuke either. Things only got worse when he started defending himself from thugs and delinquents, these “precious angels” would run home crying and he'd be the one in trouble. He actually took it easy on said jerks, if he had tried he would have hospitalized them for months or worse.
There was more to it then just not wanting to paste some scum. Because of his powers he had to keep a low profile, staying off Spirit World's radar. Even if he wasn't a threat to mankind, that wouldn't stop someone from thinking he was. Humans taught him that quite well.
Slowly but surely it was Yusuke seen as the delinquent, his position with teachers plummeting further and further. He could have done better in school if he wanted to but the fact was, he didn't. There were teachers who thought he was trash, the few times he actually applied himself he was accused of cheating. He did have his archive knowledge, but frankly he wouldn't need it if the teachers gave a shit about him.
The biggest jack asses seemed to expect you to already know and understand the lesson. If you were one of their favorites or seen as having a future, you could ask questions and get guided through it. Yusuke raised his hand once and this rat looking teacher decided to mock him in front of the whole class. He didn't raise his hand again.
Iwamoto was the worst of them all, most if not all of Yusuke's distrust of humans/adults came from this man. At every turn he was dogging on Yusuke, taking any turn to bring up his mother or his absent father. Yusuke knew why, the bastard wanted Urameshi to hit him, so he could be expelled.
He did enough just to stay out of academic drop out. Yes he was stuck with these jerks, but they were also stuck with him. Yusuke loved it when they got so frustrated when he passed a test or turned in homework. They wanted him gone so badly. He'd show up for school but skip their classes, which reflected poorly on them.
If they weren't gonna teach him, he'd find other things to occupy his time. Yusuke did feel disconnected from the human world, things felt a bit slow or boring. It did give Yusuke time to think about what he wanted to do with his life. He did like to fight, but it'd be annoying to hold back all the time.
Weirdly enough he did want to help people, going through the archive he learned some of his ancestors were doctors. The one who first mated his demon father was one in fact. It gave Yusuke the idea to become one, in his own way.
Human medicine was a bit more complicated then it needed to be, he could do more with spirit and demon energy. He gathered all the medical knowledge collected by his ancestors and picked up some bits and bobs over recent medical advances and discoveries. In just two years he was able to open up his own little clinic, servicing both humans and demons alike.
True this did put him on Spirit World's radar, but he figured since he was helping people with his powers he'd be fine. Since no one was busting down his door and hauling him away he figured he was right.

Someone did come to his door. “Hello! I'm Leorio Paradinight!” He bowed his head. “I'm looking to become a doctor, please allow me to work in your clinic!”
“Ehh?” Yusuke blinked. 'Who's this old guy?’
Leorio appeared to be quite older than he was. He was dressed in a nice blue suit, and was carrying a brown briefcase. Urameshi's eyes narrowed on him. “You can come in and have some tea I guess.”
“Thank you!”
Yusuke was dressed in what could be described as a green male nurse's outfit. The two sat down and had some tea. “How did you hear about me?”
“Well there were rumors of a young man performing medical miracles, I did some digging and found your location.”
“Miracles huh?” He did suppose what he did would seem like a miracle. “And why do you want to train under me, shouldn't you be applying to some fancy university or something?”
Leorio chuckled and rubbed the back of his head. “Well medical school is quite expensive. I've learned what I can on my own, but I need to find another way to become a doctor.”
Yusuke raised a brow and sipped some tea. “I think you should look elsewhere, my methods will likely not be able to help you.” He sat his cup down.
“I've heard of your methods and I disagree.” Leorio touched the table, his hand vanishing into a wormhole and he got the teapot and pulled it out. “As you can see I'm not a normal human.” He poured some of the tea into Yusuke's cup.
'As I thought!’ Yusuke could sense Leorio's spirit energy inside him.
“So you have the ability to use spirit energy too?” He played it off as surprised. “That's quite the unique ability you have.”
“Thanks, I've always been pretty spiritually aware, and after some trial and error I learned I could do this. Which is cool, but my main goal is becoming a doctor!”
“Oh?” Yusuke sipped some tea.
“I need to train under you because you use your spirit energy to heal people don't you?” He bowed his head. “I need to learn to do the same, so please teach me!”
It was true, his so called miracles were simply the use of his spirit or demon energy used in techniques to heal wounds and diseases.
“One more question, why do you want to become a doctor so badly?”
Leorio paused, he looked almost unsure of what to say. “When I was younger I had a friend, who got very sick, I learned of a treatment that could save him but it cost a lot of money. So I wanted to become a doctor, but that cost a lot of time and money.” Leorio showed a lot of vulnerability as he told this story. Yusuke was reading him looking for any signs of deceit.
“My friend didn't make it, and it wasn't fair!” He hit the table. “He just needed more time, and I always thought if only he could get a second chance.”
“And did he?”
Leorio looked up. “Huh?”
“Did he get a second chance?”
Leorio began to sweat. “No! That'd be impossible right?” He cleared his throat. “Ahem, so that's why I want to become a doctor so I can do right by people and treat those that need treatment but can't afford it. If you help me I can learn to help people with my gift!”
Yusuke finished his tea. 'Well he's an idiot but he has a good heart.’ He pondered his choices. “Very well, you can train under me. Just know that my clients are not always human.”
“Oh thank you…wait what?” Leorio blinked.
“You are spiritually aware, so you must know of spirits and yokai. I treat them as well.” It was how he got this clinic, it had been haunted but Yusuke helped the ghost haunting it.
“Ah…” Leorio didn't think Yusuke was lying but the news seemed to shake him up.
“If that's a problem, I'm sure someone of your experience could find some university or something to attend.”
Leorio blinked. “Huh?” He got annoyed. “I'm not old enough to get into one! I'm a teen just like you!” The suit wasn't helping him and he had the body language of an older man.
Yusuke's composure dropped for a moment. Sure enough as he scanned Leorio's life energy it was true they were about the same age. Yusuke couldn't help but chuckle. “Sorry, least I didn't call you old man.”
Leorio blushed. When he smiled Yusuke looked softer almost cute. “Well that's fine!” He offered his hand. “I'm happy to be working with ya!”
The two shook hands. “You can start tomorrow.”
Leorio finished his tea and left. He walked quite a bit away from the clinic before pulling out a Communication Mirror. “I've made contact!”
“Good job, does he suspect anything?” A blue haired woman appeared on the screen.
“I don't think so, are you sure this guy is a demon?”
“Yes, he holds the mazoku seed, he has the potential to be a serious threat to the whole world.”
“ He just…doesn't seem like that kind of guy.”
“Well it's your job to watch him and find out, he's managed to avoid our radar for this long. We don't have any data on him. As spirit detective you need to watch him, investigate him, and if he's a threat eliminate him if you can.”
“And if he's not a threat?”
“That's up to Koenma to decide. Just try not to blow your cover or get into any trouble.”
“Hey Botan, come on I got this!” He adjusted his tie. “Speaking of got this, I got this bottle of wine I've been saving how about you and I pop it open and…”
“I'm sorry Leorio I got to run. Do be careful and take care!” The call ended.
Leorio sulked. “Man this sucks!” He sniffled.
