Fire and Spirit

Natsu learned Dragon Slayer magic from Igneel, but there was another skilled magic user in his life, who decided to teach him some magic. Anna Heartfilia was a powerful Celestial Spirit Wizard, one capable of opening the Eclipse Gate. Her teachings allow Natsu to become a Celestial Spirit Wizard. Given his unique history he’s able to take the magic to another level.

Chapter 1

Zeref and Anna had a plan, working with five Dragons they planned to send them along with the dragon slayer children they were raising to the future, a time where the world would be rich in Ethernano. Their souls had been maimed by Acnologia.

It worked out for Zeref, who wished for Natsu to grow strong enough to one day destroy him. He left his brother under the care of Igneel to teach him fire magic. It came to pass he was taught Fire Dragon Slayer magic, making it so he could eat fire and gain power from it.

There was stuff the dragons couldn’t teach so the children were gathered and taught by Anna. She was a powerful Celestial Spirit Wizard. There weren’t many celestial spirit wizards in her era, so she wanted to pass on the magic as much as possible. The other children struggled to form a contract but Natsu was able to do it.

Celestial Spirit King was a bit...concerned allowing Natsu to learn Celestial Spirit magic, given who/what he was. It was something in the stars that made him let it go. A possibility was the original Natsu Dragneel was meant to be a celestial spirit wizard but his light was snuffed out by Acnologia. Zeref’s actions saved a “new friend”.

Magic connects to the user’s soul

Stars came in all different sizes, shapes, and lights. He just hoped Natsu’s light wouldn’t collapse and consume them all.

Dragneel trained with Igneel to learn fire magic and dragon slayer magic, and with Anna he learned the complex magic of Celestial Spirit Summoning. Holder, Caster, and Spatial magic was all needed so it was easy to understand why it was so rare.

Anna checked their magic potential. Wendy had the potential for Enchanter Magic, Gajeel had the potential for Caster Magic, Rogue had the potential for Spatial Magic, and Sting had the potential for Area of Effect Magic. It would be up to them to realize this potential one day.

She felt each of their potential abilities resonated with their personalities. For Natsu, he didn’t want to be alone, he was always the happiest when the slayer children were gathered. He loved Igneel like a father and formed close bonds with the others. Anna hoped they would last, they’d need each other in the future.

Natsu formed a contract with a Celestial Spirit one of the Golden Keys, Pisces! The Paired Fish, a mother and son duo. They used Water Magic, which may have seemed odd to pair with a fire magic user, but it was actually a good match. He would see soon enough.

As a graduation/going away present, Anna made Natsu’s scarf from Igneel’s scales. It was white, and Natsu seemed to work a black and white clothes style in honor of Pisces.

The time had come to open the Eclipse Gate. The slayer children were supposed to be sent together so they could be there for each other. Sadly things didn’t go as planned, not only were the slayers sent to the future and ended up in different locations their brains were scrambled. They had forgotten the mission, the past, and why the dragons disappeared.

Natsu was almost consumed by the loneliness. He summoned Pisces and even managed to manifest them in their true forms. Mother fish appeared as a tall slim woman with a large bust. She had long glossy, straight, dark blue hair. Her ears were fin-like and stood out from her. The spirit had trident tattoos under her eyes and a light blue dress with fish scale armor, the outfit was parted showing off her bust and smooth stomach.

Her son had tan skin and wild white hair, he had a toned and muscular body which he showed off. He had similar tattoo’s to his mother and they both wore a crown. Pisces Son had shell piercings in his ears and a matching shell necklace that rested on his pecs. He wears a belt made of black scales, that goes down his sides to help cover his loose pants.

Momma helped console Natsu, her motherly instincts coming in clutch here. Sonny did some hunting so they wouldn’t go hungry. He used his trident to bring down a magical beast. With their help Dragneel was able to locate a Wizard Guild and join up. He was quite impressive, having both “Lost Magic” aka Dragon Slayer magic and a secondary magic as a Celestial Spirit Wizard.

Pisces helped raise Natsu up, while they used Water Magic they knew how to fight with their element. Mother used it like a Caster while Son used it like a Holder. Dragneel learned to incorporate both styles, he could conjure dragon fire and he used it to coat his fists or feet to make attacks. Igneel had taught him some tricks, but Pisces helped him gain more combat experience.

He called it Flame Scale, where he coated his whole body in fire, which worked as both offense and defense.

Son got him a celestial spirit weapon, a whip that harnessed fire magic. It was called the Solar Whip, an artifact that channeled heat and flames by the user or by sun light. The weapon was a bit tricky, but lessons from another Fire Wizard in the guild helped him grow. He loved eating Purple Flare, a flame that couldn’t be extinguished by wind or water.

As he kept eating this flame, it became part of his arsenal. Flames were as natural as breathing for him, and being fed thee stuff for years helped it be drawn into his magic core. He tried eating Lightning and Water Magic but it didn’t go over well.

Fire and Water seemed to be opposites, enemies even, but as forces of nature they acted very similar so the styles of fighting were easy to synchronize. Their duels and clashes made it more interesting. Natsu had to learn to control his flames when fighting against water, increasing the heat, output, and force of his flames to avoid being extinguished by Pisces’ water.

In kind training with Natsu helped Pisces grow even stronger. Not all spirit wizards would have their spirits train with them.  They learned thermal fluctuation, Momma could conjure ice cold water which could work to freeze an opponent, while Son learned to harness boiling water to fight.

Over the years their training helped Dragneel develop. Pisces honing his mind while the son honed his body. Strengthening his vessel and mind helped his magical development. Keeping Pisces out for long periods of time worked his celestial magic.  The stronger he became, the stronger his spirits became.

He gathered some more spirits, silver keys.

Chariot, a living spirit that was half dragonoid half chariot, his lower half was that of a chariot, the wheels lit on fire and the chariot moved on magic power. The dragon half had two heads, one head breathed fire the other head breathed lightning. They were dressed elegantly wearing coachmen attire. He was even capable of flight. Natsu saw him as a friend so was able to ride in him without getting motion sick.

Stove, a living stove fire spirit, he was huge and made of iron. He was an expert chef able to bake and cook anything perfectly. Dragneel found his flames to be super tasty as well. While not a spirit seen for combat, but Natsu loved him and brought him into battle now and then. Stove’s potential was drawn out, with a dragon slayer partner he was terrifying on the battle field.

Candle, a living spirit, he took the form of a living candle, he hopped around on a metal stand. He had a wax body, with big red eyes and pointy teeth. The spirit wasn’t seen as a battle spirit, more of a night light. Natsu tapped into his potential, his fire magic wasn’t super strong, but he also had Wax caster magic. Candle was able to provide support and help capture bad guys.

His abilities improved to the point he could summon two spirits out at a time. The fact he could replenish his magic power by eating fire, he created a cycle that worked his magic muscles in a crazy way. His tank was drained to 0 only to be recharged. It helped him grow.

Dragneel’s growth helped shape Fairy Tail, the guys his age formed healthy rivalries. They were pushed to getting stronger and finding ways to increase their magic. Elfman and Gray didn’t want to lose to the pink haired wizard.

It was clear Natsu loved his spirits, seeing them as friends and family. There was one bond that reached much deeper than normal.
