Iโm 95% sure itโs the upper 2 (now) who killed her 5% itโs upper 1. Regardless I think upper 2 badly injured her and either the sun was coming up and he left or he couldnโt fully handle the situation after she was to injured due to her sister stepping in or others so he fled. But most likely the sun started to come out. I think he just has some random womanโs head on the pot.

But its kinda obv that the demon that the insect hashira speaks, can only be an upper or muzan ( thats the ones left that we know with some importance). I dont think that is Muzan, because Muzan is the final boss for sure, so its one of the 3 uppers, and the anime does gives importance to a certain upper killing or speaking about dead women, if you think. Upper 1 we know nothing, Akaza is a demon, but he looked "honored" about fighthing only strong people and with him killing Rengoku in front of Tanjiro, that gives a really sentimental fight that look destined to Tanjiro, on the other hand Doma first scene we see him eating a women and at the upper meating we see him saying to upper 5, Gyokko, that the jar the he had offer him, he used to display a head of a women ... in his room. If he really killed the hashira sister, that makes a really personal fight for Kanao and for the Insect Hashira. He seems like the one.
