1990, Chevrolet finally presents a true match for the European supercars of the time.
Corvette ZR-1 could compete head-to-head with rivals Porsche and Ferrari, even supplanting both the Porsche 911 (930) Turbo, at the time discontinued and still without a replacement, and the newly launched Ferrari 348 TB.
The true rival of the Corvette ZR-1 was the "old" Ferrari Testarossa, which would only be replaced in 1992. With an identical p/w ratio, the performance of these two supercars is quite similar.
As for ease of driving, the ZR-1 surprisingly proved to be very “civilized” and easy to control, compared to its rivals, whether the Testarossa or the Porsche 911 Turbo, both quite demanding even for an experienced driver.
